I heard that they are redesigning them for next year? Anyone see this at Interbike?

I was trying to get some cleats sent to me and the shop mentioned that they weren't ordering any because they were being redesigned...

So in other words the shop isn't going to support the 1000's of time pedals that are already being used? Shop logic!

I went to Bicycle Village last week to get a tube. They were out. Thats right you didn't read it wrong. OUT. OF TUBES!!!!!!

I'd also be interested in the new Times. While I like my Eggbeaters, I think they are a bit quirky.

Ok perhaps they are re doing the cleats.

This is from their site. Looks different than the current ones.

Care to elaborate? I've been thinking about switching ti Eggbeaters (from Times) -- or maybe the Looks with better bearings and seals. Anything to should be cautious of?

The bearings and seals are the problem. i would be very interested in trying the Looks or a 2003 eggbeater.

Other than poor bearings, seals etc the pedals are great.

Yeah. That looks more shaved to me.

It's always been possible to shave your cleats .

Like this:

To custom-tune the release point. Unless Time has actually changed the geometry of the grab-bars on the pedal, extra shaving would make it easier to get out of the pedal in the 'normal' (star on the left(??)) position.

And it would mean the cleat would wear-down to an unusable state faster. Hmmm...marketing ploy?

If you look at the picture that recidivist posted and the picture in the thread you will notice that the center of the cleat has been cut out...the raised area between the "points" (front to back) is no longer there.
They seem to be interchangeable as I got a set of the new design with the platform times and I have used those with the older pedals and the old cleats with the new pedals without any problems or noticeable difference between the two.
