I messed up, are these cookies still edible, or poison?

I made a batch of chocolate cookies today. I wasn't thinking and used wax paper instead of parchment paper to line the pans when I baked them. Needless to say when I opened the oven I quickly realized my mistake. Smoke billowed out and when I tried to scrape the cookies off the pan, the underside of the paper had almost melted to the cookie sheet. The side the touched the cookies didn't have any more wax on it, I assume it all evaporated, thus the smoke. Are these cookies still okay to eat? Or will they make everyone sick? They seem alright but rather be safe than sorry.

If they are biscuits rather than cookies, they will be fine. What you have described sounds like biscuits, so you should be ok.
I can't imagine any cooking paper being harmful. Go fo it.
