I was just reading the latest issue of Bicycle Retails and it say in there that there will (or is) be a Fox Edition Hummer H2 . They have a co-branding agreement with them; a limited run of 500 of them will be made. With fox logos cover the vehicle inside and out...hood panel insert, door bucket seats, instrument panel and elsewhere..... WTF..

How's that any different than a Troy Lee Mazda? An H2 is nothing but a Chevy Silverado with a new body. Nothing to get worked up about or start boycotting. Its called marketing.

if you had the choice...would you buy a regular H2 or one plastered with Fox logos?

I wouldn't get either...but I'm just trying to make the point that why would someone pay to be a billboard?

Well, I wouldnt buy the Eddie Bauer ford explorer or the Troy Lee Mazda but some people really like the trim packages and graphics and stuff that come with those. Also, if I were the type to own an H2, there's no telling what kind of stupid **** i might do. :p

What's the bid deal? How many people already use their car as a billboard? Many people on this board I'm sure have all kinds of stickers all over their cars promoting products.

By judging by all the logos on Fox clothing it seems plenty of people will pay to be billboards

Why is it that Fox branded stuff seems to be the thing for redneck morons to wear?
In some suburbs around my area, you can't go to the shops without seeing some redneck with a Fox jersey and a mullet.
I was told they stopped making big stickers, as too many morons had them on their cars and was giving the company bad publicity... true? Sounds likely.

That's true. And also, if you buy fox riding gear it always has that big ass fox head on it, so you're riding around like a billboard when you buy the gear too. You can get just as good of jersey material at sports authority with no logos for less money (riding short are another matteer) , but...well..people do like certain brands. No different than the H2.

Exactly, besides we want Fox to get bigger and bigger. I happen to like their riding gear. Jersies, shorts and gloves. I like them even better when they over produce then sell to PricePoint and Supergo so I can buy them at a reasonable price the following year. I don't think I have paid more than $12 for a pair of fox gloves in a long time. Not to mention that you can't beat the Fox mid ranger shorts when they are on sale for $29.

I rather take my $$ and support the small guys like Mace, Sumbrio, Hoots, etc..

although I'm guilty of owning some Oakley apparel.

oh and BTW...I was just being facetious about "boycotting" ;)

Fox clothing MX catalog just showed up last week. I have to say the new styles were better than the past few seasons. The trendy stores in the malls now carry Fox clothing so the extreme MX image is out there for everyone to pick up on.

I am pretty sure if Troy Lee were in the same shops they would follow the same trend. In contrast I really did not like the 05 Troy Lee gear much. The Moto was a nice plain series and now it has too much of a "Trans Am" look to it. that and why is everything camo now....

The whole extreme crap drives me nuts anyway. I tend to be more into the laid back surf/skate side of the spectrum Vs explosions and attitudes. More flow than show I guess.

That's Pretty bad! I still have some riding shorts from a while ago, but ever since they opened the Fox outlet store in The Great Mall, I've held my head a little lower every time I've worn them. Now I'm just like the other 10,000 people who have no idea as to the roots of the logo, probably have never ridden a motorcycle, and just use their bikes to get to the liquor store. You know...the same people that put West Coast Chopper stickers on their cars, but don't even own so much as a moped let alone a WCC! :nope:

Why the hell do they have to customize a god forsaken H2, a rolling pile of crap. I almost get run over by one of those damn things or something like it daily piloted by some cell phone using soccer mom.

How come they don't make a nice custom Sti or Evo with fully adjustable coilovers at each corner. Something worth buying. :(

well at lest the Eddie Bauer edition explorers have nice leather interior (for those into that) - it's not just covered in Eddie Bauer stickers.

Like Kyle pointed out...at lest if it had a Fox Suspension upgrade or something "useful" like that..

Will that H2 have Fox spinners? ;)

congrats on the dumbest reply.....Fox is a BUISNESS, the brand was invented to make money, not to break even so you could feel cool wearing their gear.

Honestly, how can a buisness "sell-out"...besides sell-out all their inventory...

seriously

so why has no one mentioned the "Trek" VW??? That was a marketing scam that worked out pretty good for both companies. They just didn't stick with it long.

And you guys left out the Ford F150 Harley Davidson model....The "lowrider deluxe". And you've excluded the Ford F250 harley Davidson model with the General Lee colors (have yet to spot a guy with his rebel flag on it, but I know it's there."

Actually, if we're talking clothing lines....and Acadian did mention Oakley (so technicly I'm not hijacking the thread)....does anybody have some really good photos of Lopes's red Oakley kit at Mammoth and any idea HOW MUCH they had to pay him to drop Fox as his sponsor???

i think its funny how all you guys buy into the whole image thing, then complain when the image changes for something you dont like, when really its the marketing that hooked you in the first place. Brand whores.

those same people with the $45-50K vehicle are usually some of the same people that come into our shop and freak out when we tell them that we ride bikes that are worth a few thousand.

i just bought fox gloves a few days ago

i agree with ssaddict, a REAL rally car would be HOT, unfortunatly there's only like 10 of us that think it's cool, and probably much less with any money to buy such a thing. The WRX and associated cars are nice, but they are street cars no matter what subaru says they are based on. A real rally car with 10+" of travel, tons of lights, internal roll-cage, adjustable suspension and power distribution, hopped up engine, etc, would be a BLAST.

on a semi-related note, we were doing some riding this weekend and riding in the IMBA subaru, I was responsable for the ride and it's kinda my fault that the IMBA subaru got a huge gash in one of the tires and a flat :blah: The ground clearance on that thing is not quite as good as an SUV...

I thought the H2 was based on the Chevy Tahoe. That's why you can't get the 8.1L engine in them. My 3/4 ton (stickerless) Suburban owns my friend's H2 when we are towing trailers up the steep grades. :D

Some years ago, WRC cars had no relation whatsoever to road versions of them. Now the chassis has to be the same, but with reinforcements allowed, and along everything else JM said.

I was lucky to see a carbon chassis WRC Subaru some years ago... droooool....

I donno about that. You can do alot to engines here. As long as it's got a CARB # you can run it. Don't kow what's out for your Sub but by looking at what's out for everything else you should have plenty of options too.

A friend has a toyota tundra that's all Pre Runnered out (and nicely done too) with a whipple supercharged engine. That things a blast to romp around it. Hummm, maybe some fox stickers will make it go faster in the whoops.

hmmm new camshaft, bigger turbine, polished ports, new exhaust manifolds... that could give +100bhp....

The normal bhp Subaru limit is 330bhp with full factory warracty.

up here CHP is cracking down on engine mods...I swear some of them have to be mechanics because I've hear of them stopping ricers, asking them to open the hood and pointing out absolutely every mods and assigning fix it tickets. Same for after market exhausts.

I would love to do some mods to my WRX, but knowing my luck I would get pulled over seconds after leaving the shop ;) I could always start with a reflash of the ECU?

Over there somewhere.
Remember it is only illegal if you get caught.;)

For me I think fox's apparel sucks to be completely honest. Sucky clothing matched up with a sucky vehicle = down right sucky.

Isn't that the company owned by the knuckle-head that jumped the TDF peloton. i.e. the mother of all marketing moves? They were on my boycot list the day that happened.
