Fox clothing and Fox suspension are completely separate and unrelated companies...

so why has no one mentioned the "Trek" VW??? That was a marketing scam that worked out pretty good for both companies. They just didn't stick with it long.

And you guys left out the Ford F150 Harley Davidson model....The "lowrider deluxe". And you've excluded the Ford F250 harley Davidson model with the General Lee colors (have yet to spot a guy with his rebel flag on it, but I know it's there."

Actually, if we're talking clothing lines....and Acadian did mention Oakley (so technicly I'm not hijacking the thread)....does anybody have some really good photos of Lopes's red Oakley kit at Mammoth and any idea HOW MUCH they had to pay him to drop Fox as his sponsor???
actually the harley editions are pretty souped up. i think they are super charged.

I think the Trek VW and Kona Focus were actually pretty good marketing ideas though. At least they gave you a usable bike (not very high end though, an option would be nice) and a nice Thule rack. The water proof seat covers on the Focus were a damn good idea, especially if your from the Pacific Northwest, and I don't remember the VW having very many decals or TOO blatent of advertising.

The "apparel side" would indicate that there is one company with an "apparel side" and a "suspension side". They are 2 completely separate companies, founded by 2 completely different and unrelated people that just happened to have the same last name.

I don't even want to speculate what kind of paycheck Lopes sees from Oakley.

Isn't that the company owned by the knuckle-head that jumped the TDF peloton. i.e. the mother of all marketing moves? They were on my boycot list the day that happened.
Yes, Sombrio is owned by Dave Watson - but he did not jump the peloton - they jumped a trailing group of riders that was so far back that it could not influence the race - not that this makes it any less of a marketing ploy.

Go Fox

make your money I give you permission  at you guys :D

I think it is time to take stock in the "non-image" image many are beleiving they subscribe to. Your torn kahkis and gas station shirt are no less an fashion statement than wear Fox gear. I am made fun of because my gear tends to match. :)

So what? Why sweat what other people are wearing? Why buy gear that doesn't match on purpose? To be cool? ;)

I see NOTHING wrong with the Fox badged H2. More power to them.

I see alot wrong with the 75% of these that see the most action while at the Country Club, when their owner pulls his golf clubs out of the back. The same owner who thinks a 2stroke is what he got on the 10th hole last weekend.

There are just too many people running around with small penis and too much money. :D

cause we all know the H2 wasn't made to haul people, off-road, or get good gas mileage.

Mace shorts are awesome...basic colors, tough as hell, doesn’t hold dust like regular fabric, did I say tough, and I like the waste adjuster thingies. My Ignition's have great pockets too - flat + zipper is a good idea.

PS: only downside..I can't find any MACE stuff here in the USA. :(

and? Why should you care? They probably think spending more than $500 on a chi-chi bicycle is a waste of capital and could be better put to building yourself a portfolio so you can afford a H2 or a lot of chi-chi bikes in the future.

There are just too many people running around with small penis and too much money. :D
So where do you fit in?

Again, why the hate? Don't buy it you large penis, broke Son of a Biatch! :D j/k

Why is it that poor bicyclists hide behind "morals" when they would be rolling in the same stuff if they had disposable income? I garauntee you wouldn't be rolling in a rusted out '82 Honda Civic. :)

Actually, this is totally incorrect. The companies are owned separately by two brothers (Bob/Fox Shox and Geoff/Fox Clothing) and were spawned when they split up their mutual moto-x company which sold moto suspension and clothing products.

I only hate cause the irresponsable owners can't seem to drive them where I live, and there are WAY too many already. That's really my biggest problem, it doesn't seem to matter if i'm on my bike or in my car, it's like they arn't even paying attention. I wish they required a seperate DMV test for the biggest SUV's, kind of like a CDL.

I wish I had a big penis, then I wouldn't have to brag to all the women that I'm a Pro dh'er. (not that it works)
:stupid: ;)

Pfft... as if brothers are a form of relation!

I only wear Fox gloves, they're a winner... apart from that I don't wear any branded riding clothing at all. But I don't like the idea of being associated with some hick who could potentially be giving the brand a bad image. Just like alot of people steer away from a few sports brands because of a bad image associated with it and a minority of the wearers.
I guess this is what happened with surf fashion years ago, now look how popular those brands are... I bet the surfers back then weren't impressed with the mainstream takeup of it.

I consider it more of a ethical choice than a moral choice. If I was loaded, I probably wouldn't be driving my 8 year old Civic-I'd probably be driving a new hybrid. :thumb:

I wouldn't get either...but I'm just trying to make the point that why would someone pay to be a billboard?
It's all very similar to "sponsorship" at the non-pro level. We still pay for the product we want but in turn promote what we buy. Paying to be a billboard. Do you take the stickers off your bike? Do you promote your sponsors on your user cp? Look at the pro level atheletes who can't even race in certain races because their billboard won't be big enough for those paying them. It's the heart that matters. The soul-the spirit of it all.

Sponsors helps you out - they either give you support at races or deals on equipment. In return, wearing their logo and promoting the brand is the least they can do.

Do you think Fox/GM will give you a discount if submit a resume and you tell them you're a hard core 4X4er? ;)

I agree about taking the stickers off your bike...but then again everything you buy is labeled one way of the other.

If I could afford a Hummer, I would buy a 60s Italian sports car instead without the bat of an eyelash. The fact is, the Mall * Wart-ing of America
will proceed regardless. DH racers are certainly not immune to the Aggro moto-clone SoCal style (based on Mammoth racers apparel). Whatever, a lot of them DO moto-x, but All this No Fear/WC Choppers/Fox/My Balls are Huge stuff gets a little played in my mind.

Remember Bad Boy Club stickers? We used ask the drivers where they got the "I love fisting" sticker

Why is it that When someone becomes successful they instantly become a sellout? I think it's cool that Fox has teamed with HUMMER for the H2. So what. I personally don't like the Hummer line of vehicles, but If Toyota had a Tundra or a Tacoma with that type of thing going, I'd buy one. :thumb:

Just like hikers and other trail users "assume" that DHers tear up the trail and hate us the moment they see full on armor headed down the trail and people "assume" that DH is as bad as polluting the air with the foul smell of diesel. and another thing thats kinda funny...we spend anywhere from $2000.00 - $7000.00 on our bikes...Some would equate that equal to spending alot of money on a Hummer.
The world is full of assumptions...don't "assume"...be sure. Just because a person drives a nice vehicle, dont "assume" they are a "douche". It's like the old joke about "Whats the difference between a porcupine and a porsche?
The Pr***s are on the Inside... That also being an "assumption".

I don't know if anybody pointed out these trivial facts yet, as I don't feel like reading 5 pages of this. Anyway, the H2 is not built on a Silverado platform, it's built on a Tahoe platform. I know everybody says it's the same frame. It's not.

Also, the Troy Lee Designs edition of the Mazda truck was cool, not just because of the graphics. It had a bed light (which other Mazda trucks did not) so that you could load/unload in the dark, it came with a sprayed-in bedliner, and it came with BFG All-terrains (if I remember correctly). The only problem with Mazda trucks are the Ford engines inside of them. Kidding! Kidding!
