I'm currently interviewing candidates for a payroll position. What do you know about payroll regulations and how are your customer service skills? Also, you'll need to relocate to Springfield, MA and NO you don't get relocation expense reimbursement.biggins said:i need a new job. anyone have any ideas? maybe some kind of job in the industry?

I don't know him personally, although I have heard tons about him via the IMBA grape vine. There are a ton of hard headed stubborn guys out there. But how bad could someone be that spends that much time building and maintaining MTBike trails? He probably even rides them once in a while.biggins said:hmmm just sent them an e-mail although i dont really like woody keen a whole lot.
Oh. Yeah. Guess that makes sense. First thing I thought was that you were looking for a job as a Lounge singer or something.............biggins said:the bike industry you silly goose

ooooh good point. i like the way you think. how much does the job pay?reflux said:He who does the payroll makes his own salary?
seriously though, i have no clue. in my experience, payroll calculations are simply a matter of using a 10-key and knowing how to proof your own work. if i were you and wanted to try something different, i'd look at the job as a great opportunity to work on the admin side of business, learn a trade that you can literally take anywhere throughout the country (it's amazing how much people hate anything payroll related), and do some different riding in a new area.biggins said:how much does the job pay?

What he didn't tell you is that you'll have to take a second job just to pay the rent....... and houses cost a $billion....Ciaran said:Well, if you lived in SoCal I could prolly get you a job with the Kaiser I.T. Help Desk. Pays OK, but you get tons of paid vacation time so you can ride your bike.
Mtb_Rob_FL said:Payroll clerks and Payroll administrator positions are pretty limited, but have a decent pay scale. Depending on your area you could be looking at anything from $13-20 an hour. Unfortunately without a degree in either accounting or HR they really can't lead to much.
In general you do not need to know the nitty gritty specifics as HOPFULLY you will be working with a payroll product (Software), but you would need to understand the basics of FICA\FUTA\SUTA\SS and other deductions.
And I thought you were going into prostitution...biggins said:the bike industry you silly goose

Dude. It's LA - there *IS* no "rural area"biggins said:seriously. living here is 8 percent more expensive than living in the raleigh/durham/chapel hill area.which is pretty expensive to begin with. what would, like, a pretty standard 2 bedroom apartment go for? what about if i were on the outskirts of town or in a rural area?
SkaredShtles said:Dude. It's LA - there *IS* no "rural area"
I'll have to let the SC monkey chime in on prices, but I've gotta guess in a decent neighborhood a 2-br is gonna run $2k or more.

Man, I lived in the SF Bay area (the East Bay - the "cheap" side) back in the autumn of '96 with my future wife, and the "normal" 2-bedroom apt that we were living in was $2100/mo.biggins said:yeah i did not really think about that. im used to places with rural areas. 2k for a 2 bedroom apartment?whaaaaaat!
