i have a 2002 stratos s8 and the for kseems to be a little to soft for me and rebound is extremly slow, i have no idea what i should do and i was wondering if there is anyone else with a s8 who could help me out
My fork seemed soft as well when I had an S8. You need to buy a firmer spring kit, there are several different spring rates available for the S8 so it won't be difficult to get it tuned to your liking. Going to firmer springs will also increase the rebound speed with the same oil in the fork. Stratos forks come with ATF transmission fluid as the stock lubricant/damping circuit fluid, but they can run normal fork oil as well. In order to switch to fork oil, you have to completely drain and clean the fork which is a bit of a process, but going to a 5wt oil will make the rebound faster than with the stock ATF.
yea what he said, remember the s8 has three springs and spring rates per leg, you can tinker with it ad infinitum, stratos has a manual where all their springs and stock setups are listed ive got it as a pdf if you need it email me at vheresmann @ yah00 . com and ill get it out to you
the stock ATF that the forks use is (according to stratos) in between 10wt and 15wt in terms of viscosity.
id strongly suggest changing to 10wt or other proper fork oil, makes the fork feel a lot better (in my opinion at least)
