dh g has proven repeatedly that she can smack me down in her sleep while composing a symphony.

Her statement about silkworms remind me of detractors of honey who refer to it as bee poop. Anatomically incorrect.

Anyway, as we know (I hope), none of this commentary is particularly serious, and if dh G get's offended, she'll simply rip my face off. :D
I would never do that...as Hannibal Lecter once said to Agent Clarice Starling...I have no plans to call on you, johnbryanpeters, the world being more interesting with you in it. :D

Let's take a looksie at the frame that they are suppose to order today. I sure hope it is as nice as the Soma. Not as cool, being red and not orange, but I think it looks nice, all the same. :)

*edit - funny that my 7,000th post would be about a bike, bitches.

I'll take 853 over 631 any day.
Oh wait, both frames are 853, d'oh, sorry about that.
Anyway, there is a pretty good chance that both of these frames came out of the same factory...:)
Oh a side note though, the Masi name is super-cool, all things being equal, I'd prefer to ride a bike with Masi on the side than Soma. Though Soma is pretty damn cool, cool company, cool people, super cool graphics on their bikes.
Hmm, I think I just changed my mind...

Yeah - the shop kind of pushed this, but the dropouts seem to be nicer, unless the 04s were changed up. I only saw the 03 catalog. I do like Julie's Soma, but it is 631, and the dropouts are not super nice. I do like her bike though. She does, as well.

Masi is a beautiful bike. That said, I have a thing about traditional look and not a fan of the slopping top-tube. Looks like it's got a decent sized head-tube tho. I only pretend to be knowledgeable, but it seems like a lot of H-Ts lately are smaller?

Am I to understand the Masi frame alone is $325?

Yes - I am going to work on a storage trailer and sweeten the deal, though.

I did want this frame pretty badly, but the more I look, the better I like the MASI.

^ I don't know what that means. Storage trailer?

$325 for a new 853 frame sounds like a good price to me. But go get measured on a fit cycle :)

Haven't seen the road dropouts, but one of the best things about the Groove MTB frame is that they use actual, official Breezer "Breeze-in" dropouts, in my opinion, the best dropouts made, by FAR.
The Salsa 853 frame I got (but didn't build) just had standard dropouts, not bad, just nothing special.
The Joe Breeze-designed dropouts really are amazing though, super easy to get the wheel in, and super-strong, lots of weld contact areas.
But since this is a road bike, moot point I suppose eh? :)

If it truly is 565cm center to center, I am good.

very nice. And? You know I'm a steel-whore.

PS: You've got giant monkey arms :D
Me too. These big ol' arms will give you a nice reach around when I make it to CO. :D

Check it LordOpie - carbon and steel with compacts.
Oh man, that thing is t**s! Wow, I love the whole steel/carbon thing. Dedacciai makes some nice steel too. I almost got a Bianchi with a very similar build...I'd prefer a more sloping TT though, but that's just me, and just for aesthetics...

loco, if you spend much more than $325 on the frame, you should come up here and get a custom frame for $700... that includes one color custom paint. Or you can buy extra colors/designs. The guy uses True Temper's Platinum OX steel... I tested a Lemond Sarthe which has OX and it's smoother than buttah.

Do they say TOMMY really big across the ass?
Yup, and the "O" is right over his anus. We cut a hole thru the "O" and now it's like porking Loco -and- Tommy.

No Senator, I did not type those things. Someone hacked my RM account. Yes, several times.
