My response:
The author of that article REEKS of desperate rationalization. Obviously Mr. Williamson thinks the election is going for Obama and needs a place to put the blame. On a comedian and his show. How sad for him, and the National Review. Old man Buckley must be spinning in his grave. Obviously it can't be the GOP message or positions, it's got to be Jon Stewart's fault. Just like how all the "traditional marriage" folks have left is chicken sandwiches, all this guy has left is the Daily Show.

Voter suppression in Florida.

7+ hour lines just to vote. 12+ page long ballots combined with reduced early-voting and fewer polling places...

And let's not get into what's going on in Ohio....
I know all that, and it's troublesome for sure. I guess what I'm getting at, is that I was really worried about this election, and while it's certainly still possible that the above mentioned shenanigans or just actual voting could give Rmoney the election, the fact that The National Review and it's columnists are sweating such frivolous bullsh*t, I find oddly comforting.

Front Range, dude...
"It is only in that kind of emotionally based, information-free environment that something like Mr. (Insert idiot journalist name from either side here) vulgarity can thrive..."

It really sounds as if the Right is just mad because they have no sense of humour.

I haven't watched Jon Stewart since He was cancelled in the 90s; he helped get rid of Arsenio Hall so maybe he can save us from Mittens too.
What's surprising isn't that Jon says what he does, but rather that he's the only one saying it. His schtick is basically:

1. Play clip of outrageous thing that politician / Fox News persona says.
2. Comment in a sarcastic manner about how no one could have ever said the exact opposite.
3. Play clip of said politician / Fox News persona saying the exact opposite.

And suddenly the right-wing goes nuts, since pointing out their hypocrisy (or batsh!tcrazyness) is obviously a grand left-wing conspiracy...

Only in America: Political Advertising is a "Constitutional Right" but Voting isn't...

But I will agree, 'squeeb, if the right-wingers were at ALL confident they wouldn't be running around screaming about how the polls were wrong, and that it was all just a grand conspiracy. Even the scenes from Florida are comforting since it's showing that there's a LOT of enthusiasm on the Democratic side. Who else would stand in line for hours unless they were *really* enthusiastic about voting?

Current polling is even showing Obama leading in Virginia, along with Ohio, and making a play for Florida. Winning OH and VA pretty much seals the deal (assuming he takes at least *one* other state like NH), and FL would be icing on the cake.

Still have my fingers crossed, though...

I like how some republican strategists are already trying to blame Sandy on killing Romney's momentum and thus causing him to lose the election. My rebuttal would be, It was God's Plan.

So thankful that WI uses optical scan ballots. Simple, physical ballots that can be recounted, and in the recent statewide recount the challenger only picked up ~300 additional votes out of 1.5 million cast (0.02%). The state'll pick up the tab on a recall if there's less than 0.5% difference between the candidates.

Plus they have to be pretty economical since you only need ONE scanner per polling place. It takes ~1sec to run it through the machine, so you have a dozen (or however many) little private booths for you to fill it out, then you feed it through the machine by the door on your way out.

Can't imagine voting with zero proof that you were ever there...

Same with us. I'm all for technology but if I submit a vote and there's no way to validate after the fact... seems like a bad way to go.
