Out of my mind, back in a moment.
I had a wierd ride today. Even though I've got a head cold, it's too nice to sit inside all day, so I headed out in the 55, sunny and absolutely calm weather for a road ride. Ride went as follows:

1. Flatted about 20 yards from home, no apparent reason. Just a leak in the tube that appeared out of nowhere. :disgust:
2. Got out on the road for a while, stated to feel good. Stood up to put some power to the pedals and snapped the chain (not even at the powerlink, but in the middle of the chain). Cue a few minutes to fix the chain.
3. Cruising along some nice flat back road, this little $hit dog comes running out of nowhere showing a desire to chew on me. Had to hammer to get away from it for about 3/4 of a mile (little thing was pretty fast for a rat-dog).
4. Some dope running with traffic yells at me for passing him closely. Not like there's a road to my left or anything.
5. For some reason, a 2 mile stretch of my regular loop has been covered in fine gravel sometime in the last 4 days. Interesting to say the least, but at least I know a steel frame does a good job at muting road buzz. Control was a little sketchy though.
6. While on that gravel road, some dick in a huge pickup went blasting my by, showering me with bits of rock propelled at high speed. Thank god for glasses.
7. An old lady in a car stopped to chat with me while I was cooling down on the way back home. Just to chat. No particular reason to stop by lonliness.

Is there a full moon tonight or something? Weirdest ride I've had in a long time. At least it felt good.

And I also discovered that I cannot put a top swing derailleur on my Dawg because of the damn gusset at the seat/down tube junction. Anyone need a 952 TS/TP?

I had a good ride today, til near the end. I hit a ladder drop of about 4 feet...but totally nose dived it. Bottomed out my fork hard and whiplashed the hell out of myself on a gay little drop. My effing head, neck and upper back are hurting like hell now. I got some frozen peas and motrin and beer workin on it but it sucks.
Otherwise, Im really getting in good shape. Im going to do one short ride before I head to pisgah Thursday.

It's always the little things that wreck you after a great day, isn't it? I mean, what's with that?

Beer and vicodin will take that down really quick. ;)

Watchin' you. Writing it all down.
Ugh... my October century was a nightmare 6 hours 39 minutes. It was windy, cold and misted the vast majority of the ride. I'm still cold. One flat and a seat post that just kept slipping for some unknown reason. I would have called my wife to come get me but my cell phone died.

My ride yesterday was pretty uneventful. Perfect day, we took our guitar player along and about 20 minutes in he was like "you guys are to f*cking fast, I'm out". I felt bad, because we were actually taking it pretty easy and we were stopping pretty often to wait. Another perfect day today!

We're thinking of riding Shindagin next weekend, any chance you're around to come down and ride it? It's our first time there and someone's showing us the good stuff.

Seriously thinkin about it, nothing going on with the band so it's a distinct possibility. From what I hear I would have to put gears on my bike, that's the only drawback :bonk:

Lots of climbing then? Sounds like fun to me.

It would be great to hook up and ride with you at least once this season, especially since you're all of what...45 miles away? :brow:
