There is a local road race Saturday and the guys from my shop are racing Cat5. They want me to race with them. I did this race a few years ago and had vary nasty crash. I told them no. I’m trying to get back in shape to race agene but I’m not ready. The US pro championships is Sunday too.

99.9% of all racers will never win anything - but racing is still an excellent way to learn your strengths and weaknesses. I love the race events I do but I am far from competitive - pushing yourself to your absolute limit makes you right with the world.

Did you read my road race thread? It was a kick in the ass - trust me when I say you will enjoy it. :thumb:

don’t get me wrong I love racing but if I can’t work up front or be in the thick of things its no fun to me. I use to race a lot and I know what it takes. The other guys think this is going to be like going out on a group ride. Cat5 racing here is crazy there are usually a lot of nasty crashes it’s a mostly flat curse and there are a lot of tight fast turns. So its going to be a big pack race no one has bin able to take off and win this race alone

Well in a cat 5 race it's pretty much impossible not to be in the thick of things, the races are not that fast and are handy for skill building. The only reason I was out in no mans land was because the race was a relay and 7 of the 8 legs had staggered starts - our fast skiiers and runners put me in the top 50 start wise for the bikes... just a tad out of my league. Racing is fun - especially with friends. Do it.
