rain definitely helps ... depending on how much. An inch or so is good but then tarping them wouldn't be a bad idea. Apparently, there are some minerals in rain that keep the jumps nice and hard. But a lot of rain isn't good as it would begin to wash the jumps away.
To much rain would be bad but rain helps keep the dirt moist but hard. Hence the reason if they are bone dry people hose them down. In torrential rain tarps would be good though.
do not tarp them, the reason jumps get hard is for two reasons the main one being that they get rained on and soaked and then dry, the process over and over again allows them to compact themselves, jumps will last forever if you just sweep/rake them every now and then, one thing you can do to jumps that seem to be too dry is to go and get scraps of carpet and put them on the jump, lip and landing, this will allow you to ride them without killing them and will also help them pack down, which is reason two, the more you ride them the harder they get...hope this helps, later adam
