ok..soooo how exactly do you beat the 4.9kb limit for avatar sizes? I had mind down to 30 pixels and it still wasn't working (at that size you couldn't even see what it is) anyone know how do get past this and still have a decent sized pic?

Change the quality factor on the JPG.

if you have photoshop (whitch you most likely don't)
you can save for web (more compressed)

I too have always had problems creating avatars. when I do find one I keep it for a long time. Wumpus makes good avatars.

firetoole- I actually have PS CS2

I knew it was something simple, never had this problem with any other site though..

If you use the Save For Web function, it tends to compress the images more than simply doing a "save as", plus, you can see the file size change dynamically.
