How about just being fair and consistent when applying policy, instead of only occupying/attacking/defending/giving a crap about countries with lots of money and/or oil.

Wall off Israel. Seriously. It wasn't necessary 10 years ago, but they ****ed up diplomacy and now it is. Continue to react to terrorist acts with an iron fist. Hunt down and kill known terrorists.

AND invest in palestinian infrastructure. Help them build their own society, not just their own state. Water treatment, power, schools, roads. Turn the camps into real cities. Sidewalks, museums, libraries, government buildings. Quell the poverty, get them access to books and the internet. Help them live like decent human beings, rather than refugees.

In 30-50 years bring down the wall and reunite them.

Move Israel to wherever N8 currently lives. Put N8 and his family into a refugee camp with no internet access.

The world and Ridemonkey become whole again.

That reminds me of a quote my grandaddy used. He said "Boy....you can lead a horticulture...but you can't make her think."

credit should go to noted wit dorothy parker, who came up w/ that gem when asked to use the word 'horticulture' in a sentence.

Yeah but once it's done, george bush can say "israel, tear down that wall" and then there will be an end to terrorism.

Worked for CNN.
Actually, the quote would end up being, "Isreel, tier down that, hehe, well!"

Once world peace is achieved, we all go clear brush and have a few lemonades.

a) stop giving money and arms to israel
b) let all the middle eastern countries duke it out on their own

Yeah, I was opposed to that. I'm not anymore. But I also don't think that alone it's even close to a solution.

Perhaps it wasn't just the wall itself, but the line they were following to build it.

I'm with Toshi on this one. Stop funding the mess and let the chips fall where they may.

by bet at that scenario.

israel, without military support will see itself outnumbered.

the rest of the arab world will take the opportunity to level the military terrain with israel, on sheer number.

israel wont allow itself to be outgunned in the near future.

preemptive attack would ensue, taking advantage of a present military edge.

the world markets of glass and quartz plummet.
historical record high supply floods the world.

i think israel could back its neighbors to a standoff. they have the bomb. (i know, implied by your "glass" comment, but i'd hope they of all people would have the sense to not actually use it.)

i dont think israel could back its neighbors to a standoff, in a sustained way.

they are extremely powerful, but they will be out of breath after a few weeks. its economy cannot sustain mobilization of 400 000 soldiers for long.

if anything, israel would engage in a short conflict, a matter of weeks, maybe a couple of months. they would fire all their shots at once.

if that fails (i´d say 50-50 since without military assistance from the US they would be stretched out very thin to cover the most urgent threats from the inmediate arab nations), then they would have opened themselves so much, that nothing but a credible everything-dead nuclear threat could save them.
and the only way to make that kinda of threat credible (specially in this time where nobody thinks anyone would nuke anyone) would be dropping a couple token nukes.

my pretty sci-fi opinion, that is.

No, but ours can.

Give the WB and Gaza back to Jordan and Egypt, demolish ALL Israeli settlements in conquered lands. Pull Western aid (propping-up) of Israel. Broker a peace at this point, as it should be a good bit easier to do.

Hezbollah and Hamas would be relatively marginalized amonst the Arab population if Israel pulled out of the WB and Gaza.

Hookahs, llots of them... after the 'smoke' settles the surviving/retired CIA project managers of Project 'MK Ultra' come by to drop off some special liquid 'refreshments'...

then the little people come out of the woodwork to display films about Abraham and Issac that are played after the 'refreshment' takes effect...

wham-bam-thankyou-to-the-Man and everybody is brainwashed into remebering that all 3 of the religions of the area all stem from Abraham and they need to frigging get over it and calm the hell down!...

then on a lighter note the st Pauli Girl comes out and serves complimentary German beers and they stay drunk for 3 days...

then on the 3rd day they rise from they're lethergy and decide that they need to get back to what was in process pre-2000...

i take it, this is YOUR version of geopolitical politics.

it may be time for you to pull your head out of the sand.

here's a scenario for ya.
you take your new 303 and go to whistler.
while you're asleep, somebody decides they don't like you or your bike in their territorty.
so they steal it.

now would the solution to this crime be to incarcerate you or the perpatrator ?

It's not terrorism when we do it.
haha exactly. but I"m saying what i think we should say to them. obviously bush wants to be a lil' cowboy and round up all dem terrorists, no matter what nationality he's working under. but like i said israel just sickens me, supposedly retaliating for the kidnapping of two soldiers by bombing the hell out of lebanon and getting way more than two of their own troops killed in the process. just because they're jewish doesn't mean they have any more right to kill innocent people than hezbollah.

but the bottom line is that if bush wants to stop terrorism, he should stop giving them a reason to hate us (i.e. backing israel among countless other things)

Many of you know I'm pro-Israel (if you've ever really read my posts, you'll also know I'm pro-Palestine, pro-peace).

I just wanted to say, you can be supportive of a country and still not like everything they do.

My stomach turned this morning when I read reports about last night's bombing. It's incredibly sad.

Y'all shouldn't think that Israel supporters are cheering the deaths of civilians. I would be shocked if anyone who posted here actually is happy about the situation. It sucks for everyone :(

ya i'm not really for any particular religion. i think they all deserve to be in the holy land, but unfortunately it seems the whole jihad ideology will never allow for peace in that region. how can you stop people from fighting over religion when its the very religion that is telling them to fight?

But Republicians are the strong forgien policy people:rolleyes: Are you saying they aren't getting 'er done?

Seriously,

Long term:

1. Build religion free schools and the support system needed to get parents to send their children there instead of madrassas.

2. Develop alternate energy sources and increase energy efficiency, thus reducing the world's depenednce on middle eastern oil, boosting the economy, and reducing the funding source of terrorists.

Short term.

1. Air drop Dish network recievers with a free porn subscription to the terrorists. Their hands will be so busy they won't be able to shoot or blow up anything.

2. Air drop the original Bradley fighting vehicle (before all the mods) to the terrorists. Any that aren't too busy watching dish network will be killed by the first child with a slingshot.

3. Tell everyone in the middle east that killing civilians isn't cool.

But strip club, alcohol, fun? That's like a suicide-bomber-magnet.

Send Team America over there to take care of it. In 2 weeks, it will be all good.

Hell, look what we have been able to do in Iraq in such a short amount of time. Are you trying to tell me "W" doesn't have a grip on the situation?
