Why work when I can get £42,000 in benefits a year AND drive a Mercedes?
The Davey family's £815-a-week state handouts pay for a four-bedroom home, top-of-the-range mod cons and two vehicles including a Mercedes people carrier.

Father-of-seven Peter gave up work because he could make more living on benefits.

Yet he and his wife Claire are still not happy with their lot.

With an eighth child on the way, they are demanding a bigger house, courtesy of the taxpayer.

'It's really hard,' said Mrs Davey, 29, who is seven months pregnant. 'We can't afford holidays and I don't want my kids living on a council estate and struggling like I have.

'The price of living is going up but benefits are going down. My carer's allowance is only going up by 80p this year and petrol is so expensive now, I'm worried how we'll cope.

'We're still waiting for somewhere bigger.'

Mrs Davey has never had a full-time job while her 35-year-old husband gave up his post in administration nine years ago after realising they would be better off living off the state.

At their semi on the Isle of Anglesey, the family have a 42in flatscreen television in the living room with Sky TV at £50 a month, a Wii games console, three Nintendo DS machines and a computer - not to mention four mobile phones.

With their income of more than £42,000 a year, they run an 11-seater minibus and the seven-seat automatic Mercedes.

But according to the Daveys they have nothing to be thankful for.

Up sh*t creek, without a paddle
Wow. That makes me really angry. I can't actually describe how angry that makes me. Reminds me of a Lewis Black bit: He's talking about how greedy the corporate heads were (Enron, Worldcom, Adelphia). "I don't think the word greedy applies anymore. I think there should be a new word made up for the level of greed that these people displayed. It should be 'Piggy Piggy F*ck Piggy Piggy'."

This is something like that.

Something tells me that if they were over here they'd be at the front row of a teabagger rally, railing against taxes and entitlement programs...
i had these hookworms pegged before the end of the first paragraph, as i had maggots living across the st from me for 2 yrs. 5 kids by 3 husbands, never worked, cuss out the latest ex-husband in the front yard w/ a baby on the hip. rent was $1300/mo, and was fully subsidized w/ the help of fostering 3 additional mouths (special needs - warehoused in the basement)

domestic violence - check.
trash @ curbside showing entirely subsisting on prepared foods - check.
free school lunch for the cell-phone toting elementary aged kids - check.
burned through friends & neighbors by taking advantage of good will - check.

once a month - fat check.

e: fwiw, only house on street that had obama yardsign last election
e2: sent the retards off in the church van every sunday morning to keep up appearances

Can't blame Obama in her case though, she can't be bothered to vote.

good point. for all the potential to vote the 'wrong' way (but is it really?), that house i'm sure was unrepresented.

also, this is a telling quote from the comments section:
I am not sure of what is worse, the lazy selfish pathetic excuse for parents or those hideous slippers she is wearing. Surely if you know your photo will be published in the paper/internet you would make an effort?
it's simultaneously funny & indicative as to the lack of shame.

it's not so alarming this thinking is so pervasive, but that's being said w/out a lick of shame.

one more for the old farts:

I generally don't care about bloodsucking breeders and socialists in other countries.

IMO we were all better off before China got a whiff of capitalism. Why not encourage every potential competitive country to adopt such systems.

By 'we' I mean everyone other than the Chinese.
