Got reservations next week to go sky diving @ Sky Dive New England

http://www.ugojump.com

I'm excited about this! Going tandem the first jump, maybe eventually take a class to get certified to go alone.

Anyone else been sky diving? Enjoyed it? Believe it or not, this is a date :D - we're going to camp the night before, then do the jump.

So excited... 14,000 ft. jump, the person I talked to who went before said there was like 9-10 seconds of free fall (the website estimates hitting ~120mph), then a long parachute trip down.

One of my co-workers took his wife there last week. Sounded like she had fun. Even if the guy had the chance to jump also, I don't think he would have.. "cluck, cluck" :p

Exactly what you want on a date. Some other guy strapped to your dates ass.

I started skydiving a several years ago. Went through the static line training program. Quit after my first freefall, the cost to thrill ratio just did not compare to biking for me. But I have to say the first few jumps were amazing.

I always enjoyed the 'chute ride down the most. I would like to try parasailing one of these days.

When I went sky diving in the Seattle area, they first had us do a static line jump from about 4000 ft. Instead of a rip cord, there's a line connecting the parachute to the plane that automatically opens it when exiting. You'd climb outside the plane door and hang on to a wing strut of the Cessena and hang out there for about 10-15 seconds, flapping in the wind Superman-style before the jump master would tell you to let go. And that was that. There'd be about 5-seconds of free-fall before the static line would open the chute. After that we were "flying" on our own. During ground school the day before we were shown the ropes (literally) of how to control the parachute during flight and then during the actual jump, an instructor would guide you down via walkie-talkie like an air traffic controller. On my second jump they did let us have a little fun with the parachute. I was doing little corkscrews during the descent while taking in the views of Mt. Rainier and Puget Sound.

Have a great time!! Tell us about the experience afterwards!

Yeah, it sure is hot when there's like 6 layers of neoprene suit, nylon strapping and clothing between them :p

Just make sure you don't go and *die* on us now............... :D
We thank you for your support. :D

I figure, the chances of dying on this jump are far less than the chances of getting hit by a car on my way to work, so I'll leave it up to fate :p

Now I just have to get this girl on a bike...

HA!

My skydive was my birthday present from my girlfriend........hmm, I wonder if she was hoping for a malfunctioning chute, being she is now my exgirlfriend

Does anyone else hear a pecking noise?

:D

My co-workers' reaction was: It's a perfectly good plane, and you're doing what? From how high?!

Yeah, I'm actually going on my first jump this Sunday, looking forward to it a lot. I've been wanting to do it forever. Tandem jump since it's my first, but I'm not sure I'd trust myself to remember to open the 'chute anyway.

My wife was more into it than I... although I F'ing loved it. :thumb:

We went to Skydive NE in Lincoln, RI - the people there were totally cool.

Get the video/pictures, and have fun with it. My wife was a bit camera shy (although she is now a tv news reporter  ) and her video was not as good as mine. However they do some really cool stuff.

I would love to do it again... but too much $$$. I can't justify doing it again over getting more bike stuff :D

The planes I went up in for skydiving were scary, the pilots were even scarier. I would not have gotten into them without a parachute.

I've been debating about whether or not to get the video. You think it's definitly worth it, then?
Yup. It's a bit corny, but we break out ours every once in a while and watch it. The pictures are mostly in an album, but there are a couple hanging up around our place.

Just remember to have fun with it, the more interesting tape they get - the better your video will be.

:stupid: tiny little thing tht barely fit the 3 of us (pilot, instructor, self)... and even the pilot had on a chute

Plus we had a problem with the gauges... added to the experience!

I got a tandem jump with 40 sec. + freefall from my wife for my birthday in Switserland. It looks more fun in the videos than the jump I had anyway.
The wiew to the alps was fantastic and it was a good expeience all in all.
I asked the guy jumping with me if he could try to scare the living **** out of me.
Still didn`t beat mtb.
