Hello, I received an EX823 this week along with a michelin mud 3 DH. I've been at it for 2 days now, 5 hours straight today, troubleshooting and perservering trying to get the damn thing inflated.
I've tried tons of ideas:
loads of soapy water
inner tubes around the tyre
cargo straps around the outside of the tyre
cargo straps across the wheel
footpump
i even went and spent £13 on a car pump for the cigarette lighter
but I still can't get it inflated and the beads seated. :banghead:
this is my first time with tubeless and after spending about £125 on a new wheel i'm pretty annoyed that it cant even hold air :shakefist:

any other ideas welcome thanks!

well after trying all these things for a bit more, I decided to put in a tube and inflate. At around 50psi both beads popped in nicely and they stayed there when i took all the air out. but of course the tube had to come out. I unseated one bead and left the other, removed the tube, soaped everything up and pumped like crazy but air was just seeping out from all around the edge.
i popped down the the lbs and looked at the co2 cartridges. i was thinking you only had to buy the gold can and that just pressed onto the valve, but the connector was £15! so i opted for some rubber solution instead of the soap. this might make a bit of a seal so i can get pumping again
thanks

I always put a scoop of stans in to help seal the little leaks. I pump the tires up to about 80 psi and let them sit a couple hours ocaissonaly sloshing the stans around. Then reduce back to normal pressures. if mounting without stans you got to wait till all the soap and water on the bead dries for them to seal properly. just keep checking and re in flating for about an hour. by then they should be dry and leak free. I have been running 823's with michellins for a couple years. takes a bit to get them seated, but once you do yopu are good till the rubber wears out.

well, the rubber solution was a bit of a waste of time and money
i am going to try at a gas/petrol station tomorow, see if i can give it a blast and get the bead to sit.
if that doesn't work, i'll hand things over to stan :)

i went to 5 fuel stations and only one of the pumps worked...and it wasn't powerful enough. i've ordered up a bottle of stans sealant which should hopefully end the fuss so i can ride again :)

Dont you have a place that sells and installs tires somewhere close by? Those coin operatd ones at the local convenience stores will never work. You need the pressure from a compresser to pop the tires on. Most places will help you out for free. especially the smaller non chain stores. They usually are quite intreged as they never heard of tubless bicycle tires. You might get lucky, maybe one of the mechanics rides and will be more than happy to help you out
You went to your LBS, didnt they have any place that they use? Our shop uses the local body shops compresser.

yeh i know that my friends dad has a pretty huge compressor, I should ask him. but would you recommend using sealant as well? since i've ordered a bottle, it isn't too late to cancel. is it wise to use sealant as well?
thanks
