wow...if i had the time/money i'd love to make the "i'm voting democrat" video response to that.

that reminded me of sitting in class with a bunch of uber lefty 18 year olds recanting every political cliche their parents ever said at the dinner table.

liberal arts college to me is like catholicism to silver. i'll bring it up whenever i can just to prove my bitterness ;)

it's not that the video hurts my feelings or anything but if we're throwing around some blanket stereotypes then i feel that an "i vote democrat" video could be hilarious

"i'm voting democrat because i'm too educated to shower regularly"
"i'm voting democrat because i'm open-minded and tolerant, unless you disagree with me"
"i'm voting democrat because i'm scared of confrontation"
"i'm voting democrat because i'm tired of people crapping in front of my store and i think there should be a government funded ad campaign telling bums that crapping in a business district hurts peoples feelings" :p that one was just for you kenan  :D :cupidarrow:

I don't think it is as easy as it used to be:

Bush sucks

Palin is horrible

McCain is too old

I want change

Actually, I wasn't raised Catholic, and the only time I've been in a Catholic church is for a wedding.

Unlike you, apparently, I object to child molesters not facing criminal sanctions due to their religious affiliation.

(Bonus points if anyone can dredge up the Bloom County strip from the late 80s where Opus is undergoing VP debate prep...)

I think it's telling that all of your lines are regarding personality traits and all the lines in the video are regarding policy positions.

Face it dude, the republicans have won your mind: you don't like liberals because, well, you don't like them. It apparently has nothing to do with their policies or values.

i'm not even a registered rebup but since the video was mixing policies with some pretty far out generalizations, i took the liberty to do the same. too tired/unmotivated to sit here and find something funny about dem. policies, it's much easier to just generalize dems as pot smoking hippies. i could get into policies that i'm very familiar with, such as the fix-all of welfare in this country and how it denies any upward mobility out of it because it requires NOTHING from the recipient....but i'll just stick to the funnier generalizations of dems and libs because, frankly, i don't find much humor in teaching people to be victims.

Do me a favor then, and explain to me why Canada and the three Scandinavian countries have higher relative income mobility than the United States.

Curtix seems to have pulled a disappearing act, so I guess you get the homework assignment now...

i'm voting democrat because:
  • there are too many producers and not enough subsidies
  • minorities are too stupid/lazy/morally corrupt & need democrats to help them
  • foul language & sexual imagery are going to find people anyway, i just want to start the conversation earlier
  • it's more important to get a degree than to get wisdom
  • the lives of various toads, owls, and geckos are more valuable than human life
  • if someone has more than me, a democrat will make it fair
  • all cultures are equally valid, except for western/christian culture, which is wicked, vile, and manipulative absolutely
  • men should have nothing to say about a woman's right to choose, unless they agree with abortion on demand
  • i'm entitled to have more than i deserve; anything less & i get indignant
  • the only good general is the secretary general of the u.n.
  • the constitution itself is unconstitutional
  • vouchers will remove all the smart kids from the class & make the smaller classes more dumner
  • democrats have brand new, never been heard before, original ideas: like income redistribution, gov't control over every aspect of our lives, and mandates that we like each other (actually, that every one like me)
  • the only real progressive change can be through the awareness of the class divides in our country, just like in 20th century china, russia, and germany
  • due process is an inalienable right, except for cases of political expediency, pet causes, and anything which is an affront to leftist ideas
  • i worship the created, not the Creator
  • ideas that fit my worldview are to be accepted as fact, and those which don't should be met with vigorous "opposition research"
  • a democrat will bring back the fairness doctrine, because the free market of ideas is for dogmatic polemicists
  • i can't afford healthcare, but having the gov't pay for it makes it free
  • a democrat would have the wisdom to listen to actors, whose job it is to read someone elses writing & fake emotions
  • teaching comprehensive critical thinking can be accomplished through teaching evolution
  • a democrat understands that when one religion corners the market on terrorism, the best way to deal with it is to remind us that this is just blowback from the crusades
  • teachers' unions are there to help make better teachers
  • a democrat will change the tax rate, which will change the tax revenue (right?)
  • a democrat will put in place legislation to defend my right to verbally & visually offend decency
  • a democrat will make sure the "right thing" is done to a white baby born today to make things right to a black baby born on the same day
  • it's more important to recognize grievances than achievements
  • a democrat would stabilize our economy through price controls, which brings with it lack of supply, black markets, & poorer quality
  • our military is full of thugs hell-bent on killing browns. the true heroes are the ones who conveniently ignore why they signed up
  • a democrat will make sure the most pristine lands will never be enjoyed by private ownership
  • there is no difference in legal -vs- illegal immigration
  • a living wage is a basic human right, and should be mandatory that small business owners pay their employees more than themselves
  • a democrat will do away with "racist" standardized testing, which obviously reflects an exclusive & elitist mindset of our asian founding fathers
  • a democrat will create awareness (a.k.a. culture of fear) of the holocaust of our day - climate change - won't be overshadowed by the mere mention of another actual holocaust actively planned & fomented by bad actors in the middle east
  • a democrat will see to it there is personal accountability from corporations, just not individuals
don't make me go to my library and dig up the ann coulter selections

Well, that's because anyone left of the mainstream democrats (which are center-right) is called a commie faggot and doesn't get to hold any position in politics, and you can't go much farther right from Tommy Tancredo, a mainstream republican.

How are dems going to make this happen? I've owned a small business for 5 years now (under a Republican administration) and there hasn't been a single year where I've mae more than my highest paid employee. It sucks but I've decided that it's a fact of life for now. Owners enjoy other benefits (equity in the company, time off, etc).

He is still attending, I think. Which one escapes me, but he did start a funny thread about bringing a gun to class.
while i was on duty, in uniform and the retard asked me to "put my gun somewhere."....IN UNIFORM! again, overeducation often overrides common sense.

anyway, i'm almost done at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. it's been called the berkeley of the east. (2 years ago my professor gave out extra credit to anyone who went to the gay/lesbian/transgender/transexual rally on campus and showed support by writing a paper about how each person could be more supportive of "the cause." there were several of us that didn't go to the rally yet the professor singled me out in class and asked me to tell the class what i had going on that was so important that i couldn't attend a simple rally. i told him i was busy oppressing people with my biggoted handcuffs.) so yes, i am a bit bitter toward academia.

all i have are the digital copies of my papers as i throw away everything after each semester. i do, however, have some required journal entries where the professor told me flat out i was lying about what someone at work said to me. she said that i was making this stuff up.....i guess she's never really been around the people she claims to be victims of people like me.
anyway, i'll be back at work later this week and i'll scan in the journal entry...whether or not you can read my sloppy handwriting is another story ;)

Considering the locale of the school, I wonder if there is a siege mentality about their liberalism. I mean that NC is so conservative, you need to be adamant about your opinions.

In my neighborhood in SF, I have one story: a friend's 4 year old overheard an adult say, "Where is my cane?", and he responded, "In this household, we are not voting for McCain!"

As a common-sense moderate, I find myself drawing swords occasionally. One friendly argument I had was that I believe gun control should be locally, not federally, determined. Montana towns needs less control, than lets say, Miami or Chicago.

P.S. You should read Serpico and give a copy to your teacher. He was a NYPD officer who lived a Greenwich Village bohemian lifestyle. He hid from his friends that he was an officer, but after they found out, they came to him with all kinds of police matters because they were afraid to talk to the police or that the police would not help them.

This is an example of how someone can be very liberal and serve with integrity and honor.

I just have a question...
Would that be considered using taxpayer assets for unofficial business?
So you think we shouldn't educate law enforcement officials and use that money to pay 8 figure CEO's instead?

I would say continued education for public servants with guns IS official business.

I was specifically referring to the use of a scanner at work for our benefit.

  • open spaces
  • easements across private land in the interest of "street presence" (at the cost of security or vandals if you dare build a fence)
  • environmental regulations preventing property owners from cutting down tall trees w/ shallow roots near structures b/c it would "put a blight" on the land
  • dredging creeks & altering flood areas because it would alter the "natural setting"

do you think that if those who would have their way with the living wage madness you'd then be able to make this same post? are they more likely to be R or D?

and to add: i can crank out a dozen or so in the R column which weren't in the orig video, but that would giving in to cynicism on the altar of audacious hope
