guys are going to do in the club...i don't really understand..but i totally
forgot about that last one..
darn!
peace
ha ha we dont' know either.

thanks for asking!!! I am incapable of giving short answers....
Seriously - there are several concepts. The main one is to be an organized,
political voice for mountain bikers, to represent mountain biking interests
with land manangers, park managers, public officials etc. with the support
of IMBA, which is a very well recognized organization. For example, there is
a master plan for the trails at Mt Spokane in the works right now. It's
important for bikers to have representaion so that our needs and desires are
considered when it comes to the decisions on what trails to keep, close or
build. Or, as a group to be visible as good biking citizens... trail
cleanup and work so that the public views us as a legitimate user group,
and not a bunch of crazy idiots zooming down trail. We are looking at working
with the Riverside park manager to help with trail clean up etc later on in
the spring. Sometime in the future, the city will be developing bond
issues and master plans for both the Beacon area and High Drive, and as
biker use those areas we'd definately want some say in how riding is figured
into the plans. Do you know that city parks has has enough complaints from
walkers on high drive to make a note of it? Not a good thing.

Other areas in which we hope to have influence is in access issues: making
sure that legal trailheads and trails stay open, mediating conflicts with
user groups ( horses/bikes/hikers) ) keeping atv's
off trails, maintaining trails. Do you ever ride Marshall ( roller coaster,
the whoops, the dips?) Much of that is on utility land, but landowners on
either end have fenced it off.... we'd like to see what's going on there.
Or, working with the FS in the panhandle to maintain the single track in
there, there's miles of great riding in there.

Sure we've got a lot of ideas, but also we want to develop the club along
lines so that it's what people want. It also is a very slow process to build
a good organization. IMBA trail care crew ( trail school) is coming is
August, and we'll be facilitating that - that is a lot of fun, I did it in
2003 where we re routed 200' of fall line trail at Riverside SP.

While we could really use organizational help, we also realize that some
folks are just going to want to show up and help with the trail work, and
that's a great thing.

At that first meeting, we collected a lot of information on the area,
specifically where people ride, and where there are either access issues,
maintenance issues or other potential problems. It's a pretty long list.

Sorry for being so long winded!!! Please, if y'all have questions about what
we are doing, just ask. I'm going to keep the web site updated. Also, we
will be doing social things like rides etc.
