I don't think people know Obama well enough. I think people are going to be as shocked and surprised by him as they are about GWB.

My guesses about Obama:
-- isn't nearly as religious as people think in some sense, but too religious in other.
-- He's far more pro-violent intervention internationally than people think. He's FOR "invading" Pakistan or any other country in order to kill terrorists or accomplish any goals using very small special force teams to do it... even if it incites the country into declaring war on us. He won't invade Iran like Bush did with Iraq, but he'll do something that'll piss them off.
-- He's far more socialist than people realize. While Hilliary's health care covers EVERYONE and his doesn't, his is just a stepping stone.
-- He's far more Pro-World Govt than people realize.

Ironically, the Iraq war fiasco was a blessing. If it went well, then GWB would've invaded Iran or someone else. And since it and the economy are screwed up, it'll force Obama to move towards his gradiose plans much slower.

Otherwise, if Obama had an economy and world image when Clinton left office and eight years, he'd lead us to a very bright and wonderful future or WWIII.

Mark my words, the most moderate and reasonable candidate of the remaining three is Hillary.

you do realize that what Obama was advocating (targeted missile strike on a known target) is exactly what we DID about 2 weeks ago, and it didn't start WWIII, right?

not really apples-to-apples.

I'm just sayin' that Obama has said things that are quite surprising and his willingness to follow his agenda is just as scary as Bush.

Except that Obama is willing to use stealth tactics anywhere in the world, or so it seems from pieces of comments I've pieced together in my brain. He's will to break international law more than most have any clue.

i don't subscribe to int'l law (levied upon us by the world, usurping our sovereignty).
i do, however, subscribe to treaties (ratified by congress).

erm...sovereignty, by definition, is bound to our people, our gov't, our country. beyond that it's called something else.

sovereignty with benefits, i think.

Indeed. However, the way the US tends to apply this idea and the way you personally imply and advocate it's limits seems to always end up meaning someone else getting killed in their own backyard. Why is that?

I sure hope the rest of the world resets their opinion of us after Bush leaves office.
