Info on hubs and axle size?

So I have a 2005 Kona Shred with mostly stock parts. I am thinking about getting a DJ1 or DJ2 fork, but I'm not sure about the axle size. I am assuming that because the stock hub uses a 10mm axle (or 9mm axle? I can't remember which), I cannot use a fork with a 20mm axle, and the DJ1 uses a 20mm hub. So does that mean I would need to get a new front hub (or wheelset) in order to use the DJ1? And would the standard axle (9mm? 10mm?) I have on my bike work with the DJ2?

20mm axles are not compatible with 9mm front axles and there is no way to convert them (there are a few very expensive hubs which are convertible, but not the one on a Kona).

I think you can figure the rest of it

Well, I could always get a new front hub. Or even a new front wheel. My LBS has a WTB rim with a Rocky Mountain 20mm hub for only $60.

What are the pros and cons of a 20mm axle vs. a 9mm one?

20mm is stronger and heavier that a 10mm fork/hub .
it also make the front end really stiff
