Back in the 1960s when car wheels often used inner tubes, there was a repair gadget that clamped on a tube and stretched it prior to patch installation.

Since I'm a Luddite who still uses tubes here and there and patches them when punctured, i'm looking for one of these devices.

Anyone old enough to remember the device, what it was called, who made it?

Back when I used tubes I carried a clothespin in my backpack. I'd wrap the tube around the biggest tube of the frame and then clamp it using said clothespin to expose the puncture.

Radially. Can't remember the details except that it clamped at several points, then stretched tube effectively in all directions.
