I just dont understand. I pay these POS's EVERY month, and now I need something, seriously, and they just deny it. WTF? Why do I give these people my money?

I use a reputable company, and pay these bastards well over $100 EVERY month. Why? If I saved all the months Ive paid these bastards, Id have enough cash to pay for what I need.

I hate the world.:mumble:

You're ex-military - do you have USAA?
No. USAA I had for my car for a while, but switched to something cheaper, but I'll probably go back.

In TN, bluecross/blueshield is THE insurance to have, and although Im not paying for some super low deductibles, I still am paying a significant amount for piece of mind.

Run back NOW! We've had USAA (FIL is ex-AF) since my wife & I got married and they've given us no problems with the few claims we've made (mt bike and roof).

Oh, hold on. Is this health insurance? Fight 'em. Often times insurance companies deny the initial claim to get the folks who will just brush it off as no big deal. If you cause them grief they'll probably approve it.

Yes, this is what the dr. office told me to do. Appeal it, and have the doctor fill out some paperwork, etc. and it will probably go through...
but seriously, WTF? Why should I have to take that step? These extra steps? I pay my bill, when I have an issue, its their ****ing job to step up! I am paying for a service that Im not receiving, and its bull****!
I hope they all die miserable deaths.

Definitely challenge it, call their CS department and tell them what's up and be polite. I used to work for an insurance company and the CS mgr would tell us how they'd give a$$holes the run around, but would go out of their way to help the people who were cool and had a legitimate complaint.

Health Insurance is a scam, unless you lose and appendage or are 60+, you're basically paying for other people's health care. Luckily, the place I work now pays our premiums (we actually have a high deductible plan you can get money back on each pay period!)

And the dividend check that comes right before Christmas is nice too :thumb:

That's actually how *all* insurance works. It's the nature of insurance. If everybody used more than they put in, nobody would sell insurance. :D

I hope they all get some disease that is fully treatable, but somewhere the drug for it is listed as an exclusion for a dumb reason, and they're all forced to die a slow, painful, emberassing, lesion filled death while being forced to watch a mama's family marathon sponsored by Applebee's.

Dude, are you serious

They don't send you a dividend check every December? I've been getting those ever since I've been a full-time member (after getting off my parents insurance plan). Seriously.

Does your wife do all your insurance paperwork? Maybe she's got a little nest egg goin that you don't know about... ;)

Ok, So as to not fully hijack this thread...INSURANCE COMPANIES SUCK!

Agreed, but my part of Caroline's $29k hospital stay was $100 I think.
That's cause they know if your kid makes it out of the hospital, you'll be paying full on insurance for it for the next 23 years:rofl: Good investment.

SS's marriage might not be the dream he thinks it is? Perish the thought!

Marriage Roolz! Insurance Sux!

P.S.: As long as she is still in for the Winter Park season passes, I would consider this forgivable, if it were in fact true.

I tend to think it's kind of a gamble. The insurance companies know it, and we know it. If one provides insurance, they shouldn't whine about claims. If someone doesn't ever need to use it, they shouldn't whine, since they are healthy. I agree it's expensive, but they are covering people that jump bikes off of rocks and such.

Caroline's deal has to be the worst though. 8 days old and they have to front a $30k bill. I see why premiums are high, but what do you do?

No SH!T? I'm saying that unless you're an invalid, you're probably better off sticking you premiums in something that makes money for you, not them. Insurance companies make more money off investments than premiums - your premiums, that you could be investing.

Also, Heath Insurance is optional, unlike something like auto insurance which really protects others.

Well, I learned the hard way that health insurance is a must. I got sick about two years ago, had to drop out of school, couldnt work, and had some mounting bills. It was really a POS, and my meager savings didnt last...

I was fighting Pacificare a few months ago. I wrote letters to them that they just rubberstamped "NO." - then I filed a complaint with the government agency - and they check literally arrived 3 days later. The f*ckers just say "no" until you complain, then automatically say yes.

File a complaint with your company, and they're required to give you this government agency info along with the rules. You'll probably get your check after you appeal, too.

Just make sure your robot insurance is up to snuff.

I had good luck w/ cariten here in TN when I broke my shoulder. I was in the 1 month 'transition period' at the new job where I wasn't covered and said "what could happen?" Broken collarbone. The first clinic visit (thank god I didn't go to the hospital like some wanted me to) and first ortho visit were out of pocket and the doc helped me out. But once the insurance kicked in 10 days later....they had a no pre-existing clause and $10 copays after that. The office just switched over the blue cross this winter so I've yet to test them out.

Yeah - you sure could. If you're a gambling man. I used to be. Went without health insurance in my early 20's for about 4 years. Then I found out how cheap a basic catastrophic plan was. Now *that* was cheap insurance. I would highly recommend anyone without health insurance looking into a catastrophic plan. Even if you're young.

Burly,
I represent pratically all the health ins. cos. in S.C.
Blue Cross are by far the hardest to deal with.
People think they are swell, because they make commercials.
So does Budweiser.
PM me if you need help with details or anything.

Insurance is a scam, bottom line.

i hear people complaining about casinos and lotteries because "they sell you 50 cents worth of chance for 1 dollar".

yet the way insurance work is not much different. (in the strict sense of chance i mean).

i've definitely gotten my money's worth out of my insurance the last two years: $2700 in premiums and probably $200-300 in copays for those two years (not yearly) in exchange for a chest xray, 3 series of ankle xrays, an ankle MRI study ($1400 alone!), and numerous visits to sports medicine. i hurt myself often :)
