Anyone ever try these tires for trail and light FR?

They are big volume, low weight tires (550 grams I believe), that look like they might work good, but am not sure if they are grippy or not.

Help Obiwan, your my only hope...

I have used them with great results. They hook up well, and roll quick too. They have very thin sidwalls, and I couldn't get them to inflate on a tubless (Stan's) setup were my only complaints.

Bad with Stans?

I run the infamous Mavic 823's with Stans goo to save weight. Were your tires new or used when your tried it?

Cause if they were used, the bead might have streched too much.

several people, including me, have decided that the kenda blue groove series offers one of the best performance:weight ratios available today. i think there's a 2.2 blue groove (mine are 2.35 and 2.5). they can be run tubeless.

I tried it with a lightly used tire, and yes the problem was the bead was too loose. It is possible it would work with a new tire. I tried it on the mavis x3.1 rim w/ Stan's goo.

I have heard a lot of good things about those tires also, but none of my suppliers carry them, and I ain't paying retail for them.

Hmmm....mabye they drop ship?

They are good tires, with a poor sidewalls. Try out the System 4. They got even better grip, and more rubber on the top, so they hold up a litle better. I use them on my 5Spot with Stans on 519 rims.

But they are over a 100 grams heavier also.

I would like to keep it as light as possible. I have the Kenda Kinetics Tubeless 2.2 tires now, but they weigh 880 grams.

yeah, like those stupid nokian tires....take a reasonably light XC/FR tire, add enough to the sidewall to make it airproof, and Bam you're up around 900 g.

meanwhile you can get a 2.5 inch blue groove, which has a nice fat footprint and rides far beyond the capability of any 2.2 tire for around 820 g, add 50 g or whateve of stan's sealant, and keep the weight down.

or go w/ 2.35 blue groove. Around 700 g as i recall.

I tried a set of System 4s and had no issues setting them up to run them tubeless. I like the grip and they roll very well. They don't handle braking as well as the Comp 24 Lights that they replaced but at a savings of ~100 grams, I can live with it.

Now the bad news:

I did encounter a problem with one of them not having enough rubber inside to enclose the casing threads and it developed a bubble after 3 rides on it. So there's that and one of the knobs is starting to show signs of ripping off. Needless to say I think Intense needs to spend some more time/money on quality control. It's my first time back on their tires after a short stint on 909s with which I had similar knob ripping issues.

I'm going to see what they say about the bubble, there are lots of bare spots inside the tire with loose casing cords hanging down. If they won't warranty a tire with 3 rides on it, I'll toss a tube in it, hope for the best and never buy their tires again.
