Hi,
Just asking a question for one of my mates. He has just had a M3 and it comes stock with 150mm spacing now he wont to run his old wheels (135mm spacing).
Now I know they do a converter to make it 135mm spacing but he phoned the UK importer and they said that they didn’t do them.
So where can I get some spacer and how much are they?

Thanks
Tom

the only thing I can think of that would work would be 15 mm's of pipe (whatever size fits) on the non drive side (so the cassette stays in the right spot), with 15 mm's of spacers under the rotor. Then some crazy dishing on the wheel. I'm probably forgeting something. The wheel would probably be really flexy and weak, I'd just build a new one with the right size hub.

I just can't see how you can get away using spacers with a 135mm hub for a 150mm spaced bike?
1) the chainline is going to be jacked
2) good luck spacing your caliper to line up with your rotor!

Yeah that why I think it is the drop outs that you have to change as they are replaceable on the M3
So the question is now
Where do I get 135mm dropouts for the M3?

Thanks

Yeah, but the shop he had it from phone them up and didn’t have any info on it.
I might call them myself tomorrow and see, but I was just wondering if I could get them from the America.
I personally would have thought it would have been something you would chose when ordering the frame as the dropout are the same colour as the frame.

Call Intense or Email them.

No spacer will make it right. Everything on the braking side is going to be jacked.

It probably won't be cheap though, nothing from Intense is :(

Have you ever tried to get hold of intense?
This is why I would never have one.
Don’t get me wrong hear they are really nice bikes but their customer service is ****.
The same mate who has the M3 had a M1 and the top of the shock was hitting the bottom of the seat tube so intense had it back and it took them over a month to repair it. When he got it back all they had done to it was hitting it with a hammer to put a dent in the frame.
Another mate had a Tazer and hand a crack behind the seat tube. It was still under warranty and it took them 6 months to weld a gusset over it.
And he could never speak to any one on the phone or they never replied to any of his e mails about it.

I never said their CS was great or even good but they do respond to emails pretty quickly. I have sent them emails many times and got answers quickly.

My buddy had his M1 take months to get back for a frame crack and repair. I've heard loads of these story's as well. I have no doubt they lag. That's the only real downside to Intense Cycles is how long they take on repairs.

I wanted some extra bits for my M1 (pivot bolts etc...). They wanted like $8-10 per bolt! I was like nah I'll figure this out a different way. Turns out there is no different way. They make their bolts in-house. I was lucky and talked to a rider for their team and he hooked me up with some replacement bolts and I know they are made in-house. 1 bolt out of the batch was just round inside, no hex drilled into it yet so that tells you. I still got it as kind of a laugh.

The dropouts are replaceable and are black regardless of the color of the frame. They make 150mm and 135mm options.

if it is a new M3, all you need are new drop outs for the rear. I am getting mine with a set of 135mm and 150 mm drop outs, so if I get into a bind and need to use different spaced wheel, all I have to do it change the dropouts....call Intense and they can find a distributer or a bike shop who can get them for you. good luck.

Just had a thought about it.
It probably not a spacer but new dropouts.
Intense sells new drop-outs for 135mm, but they will cost more than US$ 120. So talk to your importer and ask him to change the drop-outs or get you a 150mm hub with a good discount.

Don't forget you will need a 12mm rear axel for your 150mm hub. M3s ships without then. Intense sells it for about US$ 75.

Damm I paid like $45 for my 12mm TA axle from them.

$120+ for dropouts and $75 for a TA axle is just stupid expensive...

Just get a 150 rear hub abd run it with a 128 BB spindle. That will be perfect, and it sets your chianguide up quite a bit farther away from the rear tire, which is a good thing. If you run a 113 on am M3, you cant rotate your chainguide up and out of the way of rocks as high as you can with a 128.

Thanks for your thoughts on it, and if it were me, I would run a 150mm hub but as I said it is my mates bike and he wants to be a show off and run his dee max wheels which are 135mm. In the mean time he has ordered a 150mm hub so he can ride it.

Any way I phoned up the UK importers to day to find out for myself what the situation was and they don’t stock the 135mm dropouts but they are going to look in to getting one and let me know what the situation is.

Also his frame came with an axle which surprised him.

Thanks
Tom
