Hi, ive been looking to replace my front rim. I have a wheelset with these rims, but recently i bought -BB-'s old Mr Dirt fork, and unfortunatly i cant use my front intense wheel anymore, coz the fork uses its own 17mm hub which is 32h, where as my wheel use the standard 20mm hub and 36h..

So therefor i set out to replace the current rim, a bolted PX Bmf rim (shudders thinking about bolted rims) with a new 32h intense.

Now what puzzles me about this is altho i didnt weigh my rims when i first got them a few years ago, they were stated well below 700gram.. i think 680 or so, and the rims i find nowadays are stated as between 750 and 850gram.. Have these rims beefed up during the last few years?? Since id like to keep the weight down alittle on the wheels, where it matters, i find this abit sad. I love the intense rims and i dont wanna use mavic on this (My turner dhr) bike.

So if anyone can confirm this new significantly heavier weight id apriociate it!

Allright, then the first lighter stated weight was way off, good to know i can buy a rim and not worrying about it being heavier anymore.

Thanks Vitox!

don't worry about their weight. they are close to the other DH rims on the market in weight but are WAY stonger than those other rims on the market. it is by far the strongest rim that i have ever used.

Sun used to state on their website that the rims weighed 640 grams. The two I owned weighed in at 870 grams each. :mumble: Needless to say the website was wrong.

Grimm,
If you want to get the same basic rim in a lighter version get the Sun MTX rim. That rim is barely heavier than the singletracks, but in my experience it is way stronger. Its shape and layout is the same as the Mag 30.

I second that. Sun was always wrong with the weight of the Mag 30s. They are, in my experience, the most durable rim you can buy but are also boat anchors. The MTX seems to be the best combination of weight and strength and would be my choice if I had any money. Unless you need a really wide rim or ride super hard on equipment, save some weight and go for the MTXs. Rock that Mr. Dirt like it is 1998, yo.
