Interbike. Is it just me?

took the red pill
I wasn't there so just tell me to shut the phuck up if need be, but seems like there isn't much new stuff that impresses me that much. Well the new Iron Horses look cool, though I'm still partial to the old style hollowpoints.

They seem to take photos of all the bull**** they'll get paid for, for basicly advertising such and such brand. Thats why we keep seeing the same old over-rated bull**** brands stuff over and over instead of smaller companies.

Mtbr is like this.

the PDC stuff looks nice. what's the skinny w/ the E13 stems and pedals? i recall seeing some literature about them posted in the booth but didn't read the fine print. what is the design advantage? anyone know? and what's the ETA?

There isn't really much mindblowing stuff anymore. Mostly rehashes and slight improvements of old items. The fancy stuff is mostly internal (damping technology for example).

The New Yeti is impressive to look at, but who knows how it will actually perform in real world conditions. Hey, one company has blue camo tires tho?

There is lots of new stuff but thanks to the internet, we have already seen most of it. Remember back in the day when you had to wait for 2 months after interbike to get the mags with all the pics?
Think about all the new stuff that you already knew about. New fox dh fork, fox 36, marz 66, new IH, new Giants

I dunno, I'm just a geek but come on, new Iron Horse dw bikes, new hardtails, new yeti groove machine (railed dh bike), new giants, new intenses, petespeed gearboxes, possibility of hondas, new forks from everybody (including Fox), new mavic stuff, new bmx/mtb hybrids (with gyros and shi-ite no less), new hayes brakes, brembo, new sram stuff, new gt dh...and I like road bikes too but I won't get started...that's pretty good compared to some other years...

I like the Devinci Wilson.... the Canadian version. My buddy wants a new bike and his last name is Wilson, too. You cant pass that up.

I also like the new FLY and Highline.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree, althought there isn't an overwhelming amount of new and cool product, there is at least ONE product there that WILL alter your next bike buying experience.

THE GEARBOX!!!

Yeah I guess your right. Some of the stuff is cool. Except that new Fox fork. Looks bulky (the lowers) and the grey one looks like it's made out of PVC plastic. I was hoping it would look a little more bling than that. F'n ugly if you ask me.

Glad you could sum up a component's worth via poorly shot online photos.

The gearbox hasn't hit primetime yet. When i actually see the hondas in a store, then the time has come. The rest of these things are in no way a gearbox. They are internal derrailleurs, weirdly placed rear hubs etc. Just gimmicks.

I would say that if you are a big gear geek, being in one place with all that bike stuff around would be awesome. I'd love to be there checking out stuff even though there doesn't seem to be any 'breakthrough' tech. It's all cool stuff.

With :stupid: and the way the prices (reported and speculated) are going, the biggest change will probably be that we'll have to start financing our bikes...

Exactly what I was gonna say BYO. I wasn't into MTB all that much when Interbike rolled around last year but I remember that most of you guys didn't get the 411 of all the new stuff until Interbike, but this year we all new about the Fox Forx and shocks, the Six Pack, yada yada. So I think there is a bunch of new stuff at Interbike that isnt technically new to us. The thing I am looking forward to most is the pricing of next years items.

i will but instead of build.

i can't see them costing too much.

till the "best thing" comes along i will use whats availible.

it is just like suspention designs. the first stuff is ok and works
but i am not going to wait for the best.

I have never been, but have looked at all the pics and what not found online of interbikes and have to say it's just like any other tradeshow, all the new products or prototypes of products. What's funny is everyone goes "nah, not much new stuff" but if YOU had the chance to go you'd be there in a heartbeat.

I like seeing all the new eye candy, but one thing that has been beaten into the ground is the re-release of the single pivot bullit style bike. Each time I look through pics of Interbike, some new company released it's first frame and what is it, a carbon copy for the most part of a Santa Cruz Bullit. I think it was moreewood? that had this. Sure the bikes look sick but why pay $1499 for a bullit? There's enough single pivot bikes like that out there.

Other than that it's nice to see the new products from all the bike companies. Kinda gives you a good idea what will be out there, weather it's better than what you have currently is the question, but new products help push the envelope of riding.

On another note......hopefully E13 does go through with the colors. I remember a while back them selling one off's of colored bashguards for like $50-100 on ebay and they were selling pretty well.

Oh well.........enough ranting, just keep looking at the pictures :)

typically i'm excited about iB and look at as many pics as i can, but nothing has really jumped out at me this year, either.

i was told by someone close to Rob Roscop that SC was going to be releasing a new VPP frame, and have been excited about that since March-ish. nothing new from SC, though, except the HT.

maybe it because i'm finally happy with my bikes?

There does seem to be much more refinement than knock-your-socks-off but there is quite a bit to get excited about like the gearboxes, new design tried by Yeti, new Fox stuff. Part of the problem is that we have seen the new Fox DH since Big Bear and we saw the gearbox at Eurobike, etc. With all of the access to information about new stuff, it's hard to surprise people at Interbike anymore.

I was pretty excited to see GT's new gearbox bike. I allready own a Nucleon but if it was priced decently and didn't weigh a ton I'd move to the new GT. It looks about 10lbs lighter than my Nucleon, is supposed to pedal better (from the one brief ride report I read on it) and actually has a horst link rear end which I love and definitely miss on my Nucleon.

They need to make that bike and sell it at a reasonable price.

I was very excited to see the new ellsworths couse I've heard that there would be new models and some improvements to the old ones. The distance was nice and I saw a new XC ht called enlightment.

But the bikes I was looking for was Dare and Specialist but with no success. That's kinda strange that people don't publish photes of ellsworth's dh frame and their hardtail. Or maybe I'm just blind.

Looked like it to me, although I may just have a crappy memory. It's still based on a Nexus hub but comments that that isn't a real gearbox seem a little silly to me. The whole concept cracks me up, someone through a transmission into a rear hub so now it's not a real transmission. Uh, ok, whatever. Let's just call it an input shaft, driving a bunch of planetary gears to vary the gear reduction of the output shaft. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, it sounds sort of like a transmission, but it's not a real gearbox because they put it in a rear hub once.
