Uhhh, I was eyeing up some big stair gaps last year. I could see the cops getting mad about grinding and running into peds, but if we roll around real nice and polite then BAM! hit and run, it'd be sweet! Who's got a camera?Transcend said:Urban on the strip won't happen. We tried it a few years ago. LVPD shuts that down in a HURRY. As do the local Casino thugs.
Are those the same cameras that didn't see that rapper guy get shot in front of Circus Circus?Transcend said:The strip is LINED with cameras. Trust me, you won't get 30 feet. They were eyeing us before we even got anywhere, they were there BEFORE we arrived...following me?
If you try anything nifty, they will be all over you. LIke I do not suggest even getting near the wooden boardwalk in front of treasure island (next door). They were on us like what on rice. They only place we got away with riding was off the strip.TWISTED said:Are those the same cameras that didn't see that rapper guy get shot in front of Circus Circus?
I was thinking about commuting by bike from hotel to the show, are you saying this is not allowed?
OK, thanks for the heads up.Transcend said:If you try anything nifty, they will be all over you. LIke I do not suggest even getting near the wooden boardwalk in front of treasure island (next door). They were on us like what on rice. They only place we got away with riding was off the strip.
Main problem is you cannot commute on the strip by bike, you will get run down, so you have to ride ont he large sidewalks.
There's everything from mellow xc to straight up DH trails. Dress according to what you want to test.trialsmasta said:This will be my first interbike, how knarly are the trails for dirt demo? Will I look out of place if I brought along a full face and body armor, or are the trails tame enough that I can tackle them in XC attire? Oh yeah clipless or platform shoes?
If you see a goofy, dorky 35 year old kid who looks and acts like he's having fun, say hi to me. :dancing:kidwoo said:Fun dirt jumps too. For this you must wear baggy jeans, skate helmet, black t-shirt and look distinguished but maintain a respectable silence while sitting on the test bike. These are the rules.

ChrisKring said:75% of the people riding the shuttle last year had full face helmets. Over 50% had full body armour on. Bootleg Canyon is nuts. If you crash on that rock without body armour you will look like you came out of a blender. If the wind is up, even the 6-8 foot drops can be difficult since you get blown 3 foot off the trail and it feels like the bike is getting pulled out from under you.
Also, don't be one of those pain in the a$$ guys that run up and yell "I want to ride the small 2005 XYZ bike in blue since I am a bad mo fo" and while your waiting tell the guys at the booth that you don't sell their stuff anyway. You have to be prepared to wait patently to ride what you want to ride. Last year, it took me 8 hours to ride 3 bikes. I had a plan what I wanted to demo when I showed up. I got to the demo 30+ minutes before the busses showed up and still had to wait for the first bike. The key is hanging out patently and not looking like some goober that is trash their bike and not bring it back.
I didn't see anyplace to store your stuff.trialsmasta said:I guess I picked the wrong time to sell my body armor. I still have my motocross gear but I don;t wear elbow pads, so I might need to put that on the shopping list. Do they have places that you can store stuff. Like helemet body armor, etc if you are just testing out an XC bike? 8 hours for 3 bikes? How long did you ride them for?
I think they are having the demo at Bootleg again? If so, the DH trails are as gnar as they come... world class stuff there.trialsmasta said:This will be my first interbike, how knarly are the trails for dirt demo?
The strip is meticulously monitored. I find it a bit weird that a good percentage of people are smoking on the strip but their aren't any cigarette butts, like they disappear before they hit the ground. Remember that sci-fi airplane movie "Millenium" where in the future everyone had to smoke cigarettes to live, and how cigarette butts would be laser-zapped before they hit the ground, I think that's how it works on the strip.Transcend said:Urban on the strip won't happen. yup, you will not see anything like that on the strip. Security/clean up crews etc are insane there. It is pretty cool in a police state sorta way.Prechrysler said:The strip is meticulously monitored. I think the butts are beneath all the strip club/escort flyers.... I wish security would remove all the hawkers from the stripTranscend said:yup, you will not see anything like that on the strip. Security/clean up crews etc are insane there. It is pretty cool in a police state sorta way.
