Republicans campaigned in 2010 on four big commitments: lower taxes, higher Medicare, no cuts in defense — and a rapid reduction in the U.S. budget deficit. It’s impossible to see how all four promises can be kept.

It's amazing how candid people can be when they don't have to carry water for one particular party or the other...

He's been on Left, Right, and Center a couple times now filling in as the voice of the Right. He's been refreshing, to the point of making me re-think my statements about "thinking conservative" being an oxymoron. But then I remember that I can't think of anyone else who that label fits and I realize that Mr Frum is just the last of his species. The last dodo, carrier pigeon, Tasmanian tiger, etc.

It's a sign of something scary when a person with his beliefs and prior activities is a voice of reason on the right.
