There is a point where the bike becomes too light to be stable at speed, and can beat up the rider too much, I guess that weight is pretty light though, like well under 40lbs!

Light and strong wheels are the shizz though, I noticed a huge difference going from Doublewides with 2.7 Maxxis rubber, to 521's with 2.5's!
Next on the list of cheap upgrades are those Maxxis lite DH tubes, thats another 200g off each wheel.:cool:

a few weights in the ballpark: the 8.75x2.75 5th is 500g. the manitou 6way is about the same. the manitou 450x2.75 steel spring i have is 615g. the 400# progressive ti spring of the same length is 325g.
