When I worked at Arris, one of our biggest money maker was the farmed and processed data we captured on viewing habits through your cable box. All they are doing is moving the processing from the set top box into the TV, this is not new data being collected if you've ever watched cable OnDemand programming.

I think you missed the part where new TVs have mics and cameras that can record everything you do and say, even when the tv is off.

I know im not in a hurry to have one of these in my living room but most people will buy them regardless, and it will probably be the standard in a couple of years.

they have this stuff called electrical tape that you can cover a lens with and epoxy does a number on a MMike
