Does anyone have any experience with managing IP cameras on a local network?
tldr; I am setting up a small network for a friend's business. Originally I was just doing a shared storage solution and expanding the existing network.
Now they've tossed in the requirement to monitor about 4 cameras and to record their content for review (record up to a weeks worth of content).
So does anyone have any experience with IP cameras? I'm assuming that you (more or less), wire it to the network, give it an address and then setup some software to monitor the stream of data. It isn't a requirement that the cameras be viewable from remote locations.
Any software suggestions? Open source and free would be great.
