[rant] I have an iPhone. I like it. I can look at porn and talk to my mom at the same time.

But why is the iPhone 5 newsworthy? Its all over CNN at the moment, and I can't figure out why.

I'm a lot disappointed with just how consumer fueled American culture has become. I get that some people measure their self worth when it comes to having the latest and greatest tech toy, and I'm sure I'm the same way with bikes or guns or sex toys, but the whole idea of sitting in line for a phone is beyond me.

And then to top it off, now in California you have to have signs up telling people how much radiation their phone puts off. Zombie day, 2012, Chinese taking over... just let it happen soon!

Just can't get excited about it. Its not news. It holds no political or social relevance. I'll give you it might hold some economic weight as they're anticipating selling 1.7mm of them at $200 per unit on the first day. But its not news. Its just more commercials masquerading as news. Fvcking CNN.

Bitching about media/news hype over a phone release is just as gay as sleeping on a sidewalk overnight to be the first in line to get said phone.

What else is the "news" going to cover? The growing plutocracy and the 2.5 wars were involved in? Whats really important is how "Chaz" did on DWTS last night and the newest iDildo. Please.

What cracks me up is when people camp out to be the FIRST, then wait for hours to get the phone and get out of the store only to have people walk in and buy it the same day with no wait at lunch. That was actually on the news here when the iPhone2 came out. There was a ton of people waiting, but by 11:00 there were no lines and no waiting.

I'll keep my Galaxy S for another year before I get another Android phone.

I'm excited for the news to come out any minute and I will be buying a new iPhone if it seems like a big improvement. I won't wait in line like an idiot. I can wait a few weeks. I happened to be at the mall(apple store) last year when the ipad2 came out, the line zig sagged through half the mall. Fools

idiot. you bought a product, then complain that the maker of the product releases an updated product. you are a consumer whore complaining about the news holding up a mirror to remind you that your attitude of "except for me, everyone is the same" is a sham. new products are the reason for most economic expansion. nobody but repairmen and tailors can make money in an economy where consumption is minimized.

Someone more knowledgeable than I break it down for me, Iphone 4S worth it or is the Droid Bionic the way to go? I'm coming off of a non-smartphone and know nothing of this new-fangled technology.

As for the new iPhone, i really don't get it. Dual-core processor, 8mp camera, sub-4g LTE speeds, etc are all just "as good" as everyone else's Android phones... Is there really anything to get excited over?

I'm holding out for the "choke a bitch app". Whichever phone comes with that, I'm buying it.

Is my breath that bad app...

Am I too stoned to drive app...

Visene app...

What to do if the cops are following me app...

Portable Force Field app...

if anyone is planning on a new android device by the end of the year, do yourselves a favor and get the Samsung Nexus Prime (or maybe Galaxy prime). Not officially announced, but that will be taken care of next week. First Android ice cream sandwich (ver 4.0) device, and hardware specs above anything else on the market.

i will stick with my ghetto water proof phone, i i don't really use my phone anyway. typically just have it with me riding so if i knock my self out i can call for help when i wake up. i never got why people get so excited over a phone, its probably the people that hate there life and have nothing else to look forwards to.

i knew something was amiss when they spent the first half of the presentation talking about something that was already announced (ios5). seemed like padding to make the unveil seem longer.

Why do you get excited over a bicycle? It's just a bicycle. I can't believe how much you people spend on something I can get at Wal-Mart for $100.

I have been testing with the Bionic and other high end Android devices and they aren't anything special. The Bionic feels cheap.
Yeah- still haven't found anything that's seemed more awesome than my incredible except for maybe my wife's incredible 2(just because of battery life). Feels weird to not be envious of new phones...

Are you paying $1,068 just for data? Or are you giving up your cell phone completely? My data plan is $30/month (plus taxes), so figure ~$400/year after taxes/fees. #whitepeopleandtheirproblems
I pay $321/year($26.75 w/taxes/month) for 300 minutes with unlimited txt/3G data on Sprint's network (via Virgin Mobile). Coverage is better than Tmobile but not as good as Verizon in my area - I'd say on par with ATT. Screw post paid, I'll wait for prepaid 4G (tmobile just launched 4G prepaid with Walmart BTW) when the network is more robust and mature and actual true 4G (nobody is yet).
