I need help loading songs from my ipod to my fathers laptop. I originally loaded all my songs on his system since my old mac did not have fire wire. He had system issues and reloaded his operating system but now the whole library in itunes is gone. I'm no wiz with itunes but I understand that itunes updates the ipod with new songs but will eliminate songs from ipod if they do not match the itunes library. I will be replacing the battery in this 1st generation ipod so I don't want to loose all the songs. Any help would be appreciated.

assuming you are on a mac, use escape pod. if you're on a pc you'll have to do your own searching or do it manually:

the music is within /[your iPod's name here]/iPod_Control/Music, or whatever the PC equivalent path is. it's in hidden folders. copy everything from Music to the hard drive of the computer in question and you'll be set.
