I'll have to agree with this completely.Originally posted by nicklin
go to hell.
one of a very good friend's friend of mine was recently shot in Iraq talking to his mom on the phone while trying to get the Iraqi civilians off the bunker where he was trying to get a satelite signal for his unit's phone. these are regular good ol' boys like us, they are god damned humans too. They are doing a job that you don't want to do, that doesn't give you the slightest right to say something like that.

have you ever had fought/had a close friend/family member that fought a real war and died in it? Did you know him/her/them well and how they fought on the battle field?Originally posted by MMike
jesus christ some people are fragile......
If you want to -fight- for your country, it's your choice/right.Originally posted by nicklin

I think you are just full of sh*t
tell me, would i have learned of the franco-iraqi corruption from watching deutsche welle or scola, or reading press releases from agence france presse? Where would i have read an in-depth account of the poorly run & thoroughly corrupt UN oil for food program?Originally posted by preppie
And FYI: watch a NON-US news program, you will see hear things you won't hear on your news programs .and sometimes its really ugly.

But when your country started a war based on wrong information, speculations and lies, whos to blame when a friend/family member dies in that war:
- The Iraqi people
- The US government
And FYI: watch a NON-US news program, you will see hear things you won't hear on your news programs .and sometimes its really ugly.
So as long as we keep things toned down a step or two below the ba'athists we're all right? The crap that happened in the jail is despicable by any standard. The troops responsible aren't representative of the U.S. military and should be charged like the criminals they are.Originally posted by $tinkle

i've been checking out a lot of al-jazeera, and i do agree there's a lot of bilge i won't find in-state. I'll see the "atrocities" of a couple naked iraqis in prison on al-jazeera, but i won't find pictures of the charred americans hanging from bridges as atrocities, but rather, the angry arab street protesting the occupation. I'll hear about an inflated figure of 10,000 iraqis killed since occupation (i wonder how many were killed aiming a rifle...), but i won't be reminded of 10,000 being killed every month and being dumped in mass graves for voicing opposition to the ba'athist regime.
yeah, it's ugly all right.

Remember, it was atitudes like these that caused so much crap for Vietnam Vets after the war. You don't like the war, fine, but don't you dare give the service men and women any crap about it. It's not their decision and they're simply trying to do what they can.Originally posted by HippieKai

your only thinking of the "good" or "liberating" side of things...think of the "war" that the nazzi's made upon the jews.Originally posted by BurlySurly
I dont think it holds up at all, and its about what I'd expect from someone called "hippie".
Was war stupid when it liberated the jews from concentration camps?
How about when it made the USA independant of Britain?
How about when we stole texas from the mexicans, huh? (ok, well that one's debatable to some )
But seriously, your quote is simply annoying and wrong.
i do hate the game...Originally posted by LordOpie
Don't hate the player, hate the game.
it's so easy to say that. It's not up to our soldiers to question abstract/big picture orders... like why we're there. It is easy for a soldier to decide whether or not they want to target civilians, but it's not always easy to know who the innocents are.Originally posted by HippieKai

ignorent=doing something uneducated or blindly
i think our soldiers arn't told enough of what/why they are doing things.
Ok, so your quote still doesnt make any sense. You said it's fought by ignorant, and led by morons. So, the bad side is the only one led by morons, according to you, right? So the people on the other side arent fighting or leading? It DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE.Originally posted by HippieKai
Your right some great things have been acomplished or achieved from war being won by the "good" but someone has to be the bad/stupid side too.
this "crap" that happened in jail is level with the same standards as most college hazing. Certainly more than "a step or two" behind methodical & deliberate gang rape of children in front of family members, or hooking up jessica lynch with some juice her loins.Originally posted by Spud

Ah, frat hazing. The mock executions, those were the days. I though we were supposed to have kicked out the killers and thugs. Thug lite is a step up, but not good enough. Unfortuantely, the propaganda will arguably continue to infuriate radicals and others in the mideast and lead towards more attacks on US troops. Nice photos, for Al Queda recruitingOriginally posted by $tinkle

I did a one hour session in a mud pit - seasoned with most every human byproduct - in pararescue school just for signing my name as "bart simpson" in the chow line.
the only bad part about this is the propaganda.

Congratulations on thinking I full of sh*t. amazingly I don't seem to care. But good luck with it.
forgot about the franco-iraqi working relationship. Yeah, france and germany are pissed off at the US because they subsequently lost massive amounts of oil contracts with Iraq as they refused to aid in the war. do you think that they are just so morally right to criticize us? i mean, both of them have such good records in the dealing with the middle east and north africa and stuff, you know, pristine record all the way......Originally posted by $tinkle

Exactly! Especially with all the good we've done in Central and South America. It's amazing, really, that anyone would question the motives of the United States government...Originally posted by nicklin

Oh please....my comments were pretty inocuous...and funny to some. Anyone who would actually find that offensive must have a really difficult time emerging from under their bed every day to face the world.Originally posted by LordOpie
