Scores Killed as Iraq Advances to Asian Cup Final

The victory sparked a barrage of gunfire in the Iraqi capital, as security forces, militant groups, insurgents and residents put aside their differences and fired skywards.

Authorities had warned of falling bullets -- last week's quarter-final victory saw at least three people killed by stray rounds -- but the joy of the extra-time win overcame caution as gunmen poured onto the streets.

The most gunfire I saw in Baghdad was celebratory fire after the national team won a game over the winter.

It was pretty until a light shower of metal rain could be heard pitter-pattering on the ground just a few feet away. And to think they couldn't afford living quarters with overhead sandbags...

Actually, USAID has fricking 1 br. apartments, nice-ass ones with 18 inches of sand built into the roof/ceiling, built with local labor and materials at a lower cost than the tin modular trailers found elsewhere in the IZ and around FOBs near you...bastards...

Hell, at least they could put aside their differences for once. A few people killed? Whats new? If they were able to celebrate every night and only kill a few vs doing car bombs they would come out ahead.
