I predicted such a calculated fallout. Allawi will soon start getting pissed at the Americans more and more just so that the Iraqis dont think he's a puppet. That way he'll also have a chance at the election. Cooperation will still be there, but look for more like these. And also, look for stories about Iraqi troops doing a better job than US troops and Iraqi heroes outshining Americans. This is how you build unity and national pride in a situation like this.

You heard it here first.

What's the negligence? The article doesn't say. These were armed troops who got ambushed at a fake checkpoint in a bus. 50 armed troops should have been able to put up a minimal fight.
I thought the reports I heard this morning said they were UNarmed...which is possible (although perhaps negligent, given the circumstances...) especially if they were on some sort of leave. Even if they had weapons, they might not have had the ammo, and probably weren't travelling in a defensive posture (back to my first paranthetical point...).

AHH... the article I read said the samething I just read it wrong. My bad on that. I'm still not understanding the negligence however.

“It was a heinous crime where a group of National Guards were targeted,” Allawi said. “There was great negligence on the part of some coalition forces. It seems there was sort of determination on doing Iraq and Iraqi people harm.” "The investigation is mainly to know whether there was any information leakage," Defense Ministry spokesman Salih Sarhan said.
Is he saying that the coalition tipped off the insurgents? All the articles I'm reading seem to say that the Iraqi National Guard is severly infiltrated by the insurgents. This is evidenced by the number of arrests made of high ranking officers within the National Guard.

I got your conspiracy for you. The US knew that this bus load was full of traitors and they wanted the insurgents to kill there own. Just like Cartman getting Scott Tenorman to eat his parents.

Yeah, yeah, oh let me taste your tears Scott. Ummm, your tears are so yummy and sweet. Oh, the tears of unfathomable sadness. Yummy, yummy guys.

I meant negligence on the part of the troops in the bus and their commander

I THINK he's saying the coalition isn't doing enough to protect Iraqi lives, and is guilty of negligence in that respect. It is a little odd...

Personally, with all the talk of 'inside jobs,' I wonder if this isn't the new suicide bombing...join the ING and tip off your insurgent buddies to lucrative targets, and get killed in the process, thereby covering your tracks. Seems a little baroque when you could just tip them off and NOT get killed yourself...which also wouldn't destroy the source for more tips. But then you can be exposed, as well...and arrested and pumped for information.
