Soo i was just checking out some ironhorses, and i thought they were preeeety sweet. like the 7.5 series. and my friends and i were talking, i said the ironhorses or reaaal nice. but, in my suprise, they said "dude, those suck. Sport chek sells them". (sport chek is a store here, that is just a big sport store, with everything.) I was suprised at this, and now im wondering if they are good. Im sure some companys make deals like that, but not most of the "good" companys.
So, im just wondering, do iron horses suck? (i think not!) There is some of my friends who are like ooooh i want a ironhorse!! but others say they suck, JUST because they sell at sport chek. talk about store racism:biggrin: ...

i am really intrested in the ironhorse 7.5 and stuff, but i just wana know your opionions

Ironhorse could be argued as making the best bikes out on the market, and just like any great company they have a products in the market for cheap begininner bikes for little kids or lower speced bikes for mass production. The 7.5 is one of thier heigher end bikes and is a great bike for FR or DH riding, mabey even some pedaling. i have never ridden one but have hear great things of the 7 point bikes.

Iron Horse means different things to different people.

For a long term retailer, he might think IH is a second quality brand, like KHS or Fuji. They do have a wide selection of bikes, and some of them are nothing special, like their road bikes.

For a DH'er, it is Sam Hill's World Championship bike.

For me, the DW-Link bikes, like the Sunday or the 7Point series, are spectacular, but I would not buy a single pivot bike, like the Yakuza, from them.

That's essentially how I feel about them. Only being available at Sport Chek (think the walmart of sports) is a huge negative IMO. They had some SGS's on display a year or two ago - sooo many things set up wrong. If a shop in my area was willing to give dealer-like support if anything were to go wrong, I'd probably ride one.

While I have not been to any European sporting goods stores, I know brands like Commencal and Ridley are sold there. I assume those mechanics have a half brain because of the high standards of many European cyclists.

If American big box stores could guarantee the same service, Iron Horse would be king of all brands, until SpecEd and Trek got deals with Dick's Sports Authority Modells

Can't disagree with that. I think its a requirement for Sport Chek employees around here to be half retarded, though.
