Is 36/26 possible?

Coming back from a Herniated Disc injury I can no longer push my 36t front/8spd (12/32) rear. Tried dropping the front to a 32t but it's too little on the downhills and not low enough for the hills. Used to be a masher but need to learn to spin now with my back injury. 36t was perfect for the downhills for me before but after 10 years with a single ring up front I need to go back to a 2 ring setup with a FD. I've run 36/24 in the past but see that Race Face still makes 8 spd compatible 26t rings.

You can get the SLX crankset in a dual w/bash stock setup of 22/36/bash.
Yes but I have nice cranks already and love my 8 spd XTR rear cassette/RD which still works flawlessy. Just asking if it's feasible to put 36/26 RF 8 spd rings on.

Sure but you can get the complete SLX dual crankset with BB for $127 on CRC or $140 on eBay - hard to beat that deal...

Chainring and Cassette Cogs are the same thickness in 8 and 9 spd.
