Tried out a friend's Nightrider blowtorch last night ('02 model) and had to swap with her for her Lume halfway through because my head and neck hurt so badly (I'm prone to neck pain).

She thought Niterider later changed this model (it sits pretty high up on my helmet) because of the common complaint about causing pain. Anyone know if this is true? I love the light they cast, but am worried about the weight (and with other lights too) giving me problems. Any other particularly heavy brands/ models I should look out for in the HIDs? Have the NiteRider's gotten lighter?

I have the Evolution and the now the HID Flight. The Flight does seem a little lighter...

Westy did a cool mod to his that mounts it farther up the helmet. I'm totally gonna do that to mine this year. The two night rides I've done, I'm really starting to hate having that weight on the front of my lid.

Sq-Earl has a mod he made like that too. Splat might have pics of it from the Ashford race.

That is another cool feature of the Lume. It does sit more centered. My Turbo Cat could too, but the Nite Riders just push your helmet towards your eyes.
Right. You don't even know you're wearing a light with the Lume.

The NiteRider casts a nice full light though. I wish there was a cross between the two!

Sq-Earl made me an excellent mod for mine and I don't even really notice the weight now. I think he's planning on making up a bunch for some other people too.

I made a mod too. The mod is quick and cheap. Make sure to steal a mousepad before you leave work today. I'll see if I can remember to take pictures tonight.

just top add in here.. i just got a cateye triple shot LED from My LBS.. I used oit offroad for the first time this evening.. Im liking it a lot .. It was more than adequate as a handlebar light.. I would eventually pair it up with a headlight but that would be a little ovewr kill...I find the led's so much easier to deal with then the HID's.. you can turn them on and of as many times as you want and they stay nice and cool.. Im liking the tripleshot
