It didn't bug me for a while and I'm not sure if it's because I've been driving a little more lately, but I spend at least 80 a week now. I get paid and somehow the money just disappears :( What are prices for you guys currently? I filled up with 87 the other day at 2.19. :dead: Don't even want to go dirt biking anymore since it's at least 10 bucks just to fill up my gas jug

I've found myself making my friends drive more often..

I have even been considering buying a Motorcycle. I figure I can have fun, commute faster ( I can use the HOV lane) and it will pay for itself with the savings in gas.

Yeah, I myself can definitely feel it. I drive a ford Thunderbird w/ the 4.6L V8 in it.

With commuting, fun time, and "putzing around" I spend about $30 a week in gas. ~ 1/2 of my paychecks are pretty much to gas money. :(

I was very surprised to go to the gas station last night and find that it was done to 1.789/gal for 87 octane. It was 1.809 for 89.

i don't feel it because i drive a small, underpowered car which gets great mileage, and have a short commute, but it was funny that i was thinking about this today when i saw an H2 on the road and wondered what their yearly gas costs were. i figured about $2500 or about $50 a week, but that's probably low.

i figure i can get about 400 miles per tank which is a bit over $20, and which lasts about 2 weeks. so about $500 per year ain't bad.

Savings that would sooner or later be eclipsed by hospital or funeral bills. There's just too many fuggin' idiots out there to even consider commuting on a motorcycle. I had a 2000 year old geezer come DOWN a highway offramp right at me last week. He did a 150 degree right hand merge at 10mph into highway traffic, causing clouds of rubber smoke amongst those he cut off.

No... actually.. I work for an executive search firm. I make over $10 / hr.. but I only work 20-25 hrs a week. I'm paying last semester's bills off, insurance, gas, cell-phone, and finishing off the payments on my bike, plus gym membership monthly. Yeah, I'm pretty broke. :nope:

Life's not too bad though.... heh.

Thank god I moved out of SoCal - those prices were horrible..and you had to drive a lot of places since the county is so spread out. Now, I fill up my tank once a month. SWEET!

Nahh, my paychecks are the right size. :sneaky:

It's just a matter of a 4.6L V8 gets ****-for-gas-mileage in the city.

3/4's of my commute is highway, but the assholes around here drive SOOO slow on the highway that my engine isn't even into it's "cruising" RPM's.

At 80MPH my car is only at 2100 RPM's. It cruises perfectly at 75MPH, and gets its best fuel economy @ 75MPH loafing along at 1850 RPM's.

That sucks, but apparently you must make more than $60. That is where I was going. :D

Those prices ain't that bad if you don't own a real gas guzzler. Around these parts(Finland) we pay about 1.10 euro(1.42476 USD) for a litre(0.26 gallon) of 95E which is the most commonly used type of fuel. Talk about pricy fuel :dead:

true. i wonder how long the lag will be (assuming gas prices don't suddenly plummet, and i doubt that would happen) before Detroit pushes out higher MPG cars and the dinosaurs like the excursion/H2/escalade die off?

i've only seen one person say they changed cars so far because of this (well, i count too because i was getting a car coming back from ireland, and i did go w/ a fuel-efficient car, esp as compared to the outback i had).

gas has dropped here, recently. down to around 1.79 for 87.

nothing will ever top the $1CAD per litre, though. oh god, that was hell. $300CAD is all the money i had, 2000mi from the border in my truck, no food. good times.
