i should have mine by next summer (hopefully). everyone tells me how much it helps but the only eagle scouts i currently know are still in college. I'd like to hear something from those of you who have been out in the work world for a while.

Eh...From what I've heard they don't really matter. In Mormon circles its considered a sort of rite of passage, its really bizarre, and you'll get a ton of pressure put on you because they claim that it will help so much on job apps, some say that its more helpful on a job app than a college degree...I'm just like "Wtf?"

From what I've seen its just something you've done in your life when you were a kid, not terribly special. Its not that hard to get one, if I felt like it, I could get that one more merit badge and do my project, but the whole Scouting thing scares me in a way, so I've never tried anymore. My dad was a manager at an electronics firm, and he said that if someone put it on a job app and they'd sit there droning on and on about how they were an eagle scout, he'd put them out of his mind as a candidate. Its just not that special on a job app I suppose.

I am. and proud of it- got my eagle about 10 years ago now.

looks damn fine on a resume. and it can get you a little more respect in some situations.
