The BS that our politicians pull is just astounding. Consider the following article:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090106/ap_on_go_pr_wh/obama_wasteful_spending

First, thank dog that someone has the balls to stop the fleecing of the American people. But I am astounded that this is even necessary. This country is falling to pieces, we have millions out of work, and these senators still have the audacity to sneak their pet projects into a bill designed to save our beleaguered economy. Is that really the best we can do? Is the average quality of our senators no better than petty thieves?

This guy is just dumb: http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/01/07/martin.burris/index.html

We have a governor engaged is some really stupid **** that is a downright insult to the American people. This issue with Burris is right at the heart of the scandle: accepting bribes in the selection of a new senator. In light of the scandal should the Burris selection be closely scrutinized? Well yes, obviously. Commentator dumbass extraordinaire Roland Martin seems to think that we should just swallow this corruption and just "deal with it"

Finally we have Burris himself. Anyone that is willing to accept this nomination without first working with investigators on getting this resolved is suspect. This is a guy that has had a granite monument built for himself boasting about his achievements to date. Quality? Don't think so.

It's not surprising that we are in the mess we are in with corruption at every level. However, I am encouraged that Obama is willing to call out some of this BS. Maybe it will make a difference.

Doesn't Robert Byrd do the same thing or does he just have everything in West Virginia named after him?

+rep obama; too bad bush didn't show this kind of sac
To give Bush the benefit of the doubt showing this kind of sac is easier when your party has very strong control of congress.

To be realistic I think Bush actually encouraged ear marks as part of his rape and pillage campaign of this country.

Earmarks only make up .6% of government spending, there really are more important things to be concerned about.

If your numbers are right, that's $16,000,000,000. While it may be about 2% of the national education budget, it could go a long way towards investment in green energy, or saving an automotive company.

Additionally, the culture of entitlement goes beyond earmarking, and into the veins of the entire federal budgeting process, where every department purposely overbudgets and overspends, so they can ask for more the following year. It's time to start a consistent message of belt tightening. I see nothing wrong with starting with earmarks, as long as it doesn't take our eyes of the ball of major efforts like ending the war, stimulating the economy, and fixing healthcare.

That's just it, I think that earmarks are looked at too often as the corruption that is wasting tax dollars, but it is very little in the big picture.

Yeah, I would like to see them gone, but us outspending the rest of the world combined on the military is a bit more pressing.

Nam I am
I hope obama can Pull that off, the problem is some of these thieves , I mean Law makers won't vote for it , unless they get some perk out of the deal. Sucks but it is true.

I mean why the hell doesn't the President have the Line Item Veto!!! Every Governor in the nation has it ! Even Sarah Palin , But she probably doesn't know how to use it.

i'm unusually apathetic about this latest chapter in chicago corruption. a demonstration of long-standing integrity would get my attention, if for no other reason than to wait for the other shoe to drop in a men's airport bathroom

Yep, I’m looking forward to watching Obama implement his “abolishing of the federal reserve act“… he was spot on when he brought to light the fact that we do not need to be financed by a private company for the printing our money, when we have the right to do it for free, and that's what Independence Day and the Constitution were originally about and for us not to never forget that.

He makes great points about how bailing out banks with tax payer money is fascism at its finest and how it’s really just the control and enslavement of society through debts that we can’t pay.

Choosing between nader, paul, and obama was a tough one.
