i'm starting to think so.
a friend of mine's computer suddenly stopped allowing internet traffic while still allowing smtp (i.e., outlook is unphased by this issue). everything else checks out:
- good host file
- dhcp doles out an ip
- all MSIE settings are kosher, as is all things XP
- DNS works
- ethernet adapter works
- router is fine
there is a setting in pc-cillin to the effect of "don't allow internet traffic", which is disabled (allowing internet traffic). just in case, though, i recycled the setting, rebooted, etc. i had him get a wireless usb adapter & see what happens, but i'm not too hopeful.
next?
