Is Ron Paul taking racist voters for granted? Santorum hopes so...

Oh, c'mon now guys-- you know he was referring to *those black people* not the good ones....

Actual conversation I over heard yesterday:

Small Engine Repair Guy #1: did'ya follow any of the Iowa Caucus?
SERG #2: Yep, a little....
#1: All them TV channels had that old guy to win
#2: Ya' mean that Ron Paul? They's trying to make that guy out to be a racist
#1: Yep, him.... Maybe we need a racist to turn this here country around....
#2: yep-- ya' got dat right....

I feel inadequate in the face of some of the brilliance I am surrounded by.

It's not his fault his base is too stupid for dog whistle politics.
Oh my God.

Total epiphany for me. It really does explain the last 10 years pretty well. We've come full circle. Lee Atwater, everyone:

You start out in 1954 by saying, "Nigger, nigger, nigger." By 1968 you can't say "nigger" — that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so abstract now [that] you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites. And subconsciously maybe that is part of it. I'm not saying that. But I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me — because obviously sitting around saying, "We want to cut this," is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than "Nigger, nigger."

We're on the way back to "Nigger, nigger, nigger" because the GOP primary voters are too stupid to understand what "entitlement reform" really means and the message is getting lost.

Also it IS God's Own Truth, after-all, that only the righteous (as it is explicitly written in the bible-- righteous: those who help the blacks* get jobs and be able to support themselves and their families) will enter into the heavens above.

* Some interpretations use the work Darkies, night crickets, or spooks.

Also, look for Trump to come out and endorse this guy-- Lest we forget that Trump is (self admittedly) very popular with the blacks.

Between Santorum promising jobs for all of the blacks and Trump's popularity with the blacks, Obama had better keeping an eye out for this 'tower of power'.....

This country is retarded. Today I heard a well educated white republican male talking about Paul saying that he hopes all Americans will be Austrians soon and comparing it to Khrushchev telling Americans their grandchildren will live under socialism. Americans need to stop worrying about if he's racist and do some reading so that they actually understand what he's saying.

The only people who worry about Ron Paul being racist are the ones who think he's an idiot anyways.

For Paul's supporters, his white supremacist newsletters are either inconsequential or an attractive feature of his candidacy.

Not promoting it. Just making a mockery of some of the frontrunners.... I am quite stunned at the idea that the GOP is possibly devious enough to recognize that there is a big swing number of racists out there.... Santorum can't actually be that stupid that he doesn't have a filter for this kind of talk..... makes me wonder if he knew precisely what he was saying......

It seems to be one of your favorite things to talk about. Why? Why bring it up every chance you get? Why not let it become history?

Wait, I thought you were humorously pointing back to your former (debunked) theory that it was racist to point out racism in others.... You were serious? If so let me know and I'll retract my cute cat picture and go find another one more fitting to the thread.

edit: Probably this one:

I think a photo of you looking at the side of a piece of paper and saying it's thin and me looking at the face of the paper and saying it's wide would be more apt.
