im talking about a hydro brake line...yes how do I know if it is the line that is leting air into the system as apposed to sumthing else? ther is no visible oil leeking from anywhere
Roll it around in flour and look for the wet spot.
If it is a Shimano style new line, you would see the fluid. If it is an insulated Hayes style line, leaks can be much more difficult to detect. Look for crimps in the line, hold the spot, then squeeze the lever hard a bunch of times. If the line is damaged, often you can feel it expand in your hand at the crimp. It does not take a leak to make a brake feel like poo. A crimp can have the same effect as an air bubble since it creates a spot that the fluid can push out- pressure pushing the crimp back out is robbing the caliper of power.
