Front Range, dude...
So did a Macaffe scan today...normally I only look at to see if my computer is secure, and have had no issues as of yet. But today I looked at the # of programs/items scanned...251, 678...dang, thats alot, right? I use my computer for internet noodling/shopping and school alone...no games and no music outside of Itunes.

If I keep things, it is on an external hard drive...I maintain very little on the computer itself. What can I or should I do to bring this number of items down, or is it a completely normal number of things to have on there?

You could delete cache files and the like, although some might be in a single database file per program these days. Number of files in and of itself is not something to worry about.
