IFO would probably start with a Google search of some kind. Otherwise, an organization such as BBTC (www.bbtc.org) could be useful.

That's a bit of a hard question to answer due to lack of data. You should google for the National Association of Bicycle Dealers (or something like that) and they might might have some bike sales data. The problem is that bikes change and tracking regional trends can be hard. Things like freeride bikes also just get lumped in with other 26" wheel bikes.
