Most will pay someone up to $10k to smuggle them across the border, so why not have them pay the US gov't that money? We have had this discussion before. I'm not saying their are no legitimate issues that need to be addressed because thats not true. The thing that gets me is that none of those issues are new, but the concern over them sure is. The right has yet to do/say anything to convince me that this is anything other than demagoguery and xenophobia caused by a poor economy and the ever increasing fear of the loss of white entitlement.
what are 'white entitlements'? rule of law should be absolutely applicable to browns while selectively applicable to whites?

deporting all is both intractable, disruptive to our economy on many fronts, and in a great number of cases unnecessarily inhumane. howsa bout just those when caught in a non-border related crime? seems sensible to me.
amnesty if there's a reason; amnesty by extension of geographical continuity is abusive to the very term
a wall does make sense in many parts. and when the water finds a way around the rock, build more.

Well, I was speaking more generally than that, but I suppose that one would be/is true. What I was referring to is a more general fear of losing power/control. The fear caused by the fact that "white" is rapidly becoming the minority, the fear caused by a half black guy being president, the fear of change in general. IE The rapid rise of Tea Party, the concern with the constitution when very little was expressed when the "patriot act" was made law, the sudden interest in austerity when there was none under Bush, the fear of "gun control" despite the fact that all gun control groups give Obama unfavorable marks because of his lack of action, the sudden interest in immigration control, etc, etc. It all reeks of hypocrisy, race baiting, and fear.
I'll give you that. Most of the people I hate are in fact very white.
