Damn, Snowshoe claiming victims, Fin, Matt Walker (one of em anyway, or maybe the other was already injured?), and Kye out from the juniors.

dang, so glad they are using bigger wheels and tighter fitted clothings these days, that looks horrible
Wait, what? I thought here at the moneky we don't like skinsuits and hate wagon wheels????
I personally like the old school stuff, M1 is such a classic bike.

Great pics! What a trip down memory lane. I remember later in the day for expert practice the track dried up a little into peanut butter and most bikes stopped rolling(on the FLAT bottom half of the track). I think people with 2.2 Wet Screams were the only ones that still rolled.

Was getting pretty dark in the woods... having difficulty keeping things sharp.

Was really dark in the woods and continued to get darker. Tried a bit of flash.

Really raining now. Trying the other camera. Had a card corruption somewhere around this point. Lost a bunch of photos. This is what I managed to recover from that card.

I was not wearing rain gear like the guy in yellow. Really coming down now. Think I've had about enough... as had the camera.

I liked the part where the people went down the hill quickly, in an exciting fashion. That part in particular where the person did the thing the fastest was very thrilling.

I am sure those riders loves the flash. Nothing helps in dark technical sections like being blinded. But I enjoyed the pictures.
Yeah, tried to not flash right at the eyes, but yeah - was the only way in those conditions... and a thing in those days. Folks used to set up remote flashes and other craziness. I hope they are over it.

Ummm, I don't recall ever saying the jump is easy? I think we are actually on the same page, so not sure why you're calling me out?!?

I said the jump is hard. the pros said so, so I believe them. but pros are pros, and will adapt. it's their mental fortitude that got them where they are.

that said, if a feature is legitimately dangerous, racers have an avenue for having it removed through rider reps to the UCI.

But as subsequent videos have shown, the racers seem to have adapted.
Sorry then. I've seen a lot of pushback after some riders mentioned the jumps look scary and I might have been a bit grumpy since there is a lot of talk of never being critical of the builder or the track. The jumps weren't super stupid, just strange to hear pros get freaked about them

How often do they race a course hardly anyone has ridden before? I am sure they were nervous about something new more than anything.

That was an awesome race.

Are all the monkeys there still alive and not passed out in a ditch somewhere? NTTAWW!

Also what's next in terms of races and events? Hardline and rampage....and then 2020?

Can’t believe we haven’t heard more from the folks attending. Expect a full report this week :)

I don't have all the good pics, but here's a few -

Despite what kidwoo thinks, Peat is a golden god and super approachable -

GM's deity status was also fully confirmed after recovering my precious, hand carved stone dildo (more on that later)

XC riders finsihing up a training ride right before my semi-inebriated ass passed them on my squeak wagon...turns out beer and cigarettes are in fact PEDS

Guess someone isn't a big fan of big huxxx and subsequent ragdoll crashes

We asked Laurie if he still for sale, and if so, could we buy him?

A majestic way to end the post race pit party for @SuboptimusPrime and pal

In short, it was a transcendent experience that I can't recommend enough. We *may* have walked the track at night, and while the infamous jumps do look visually intimidating, the pros (including Marine and Tracey) made them look easy. The sheer magnitude of the road gap up top was surreal. Likewise, the skill and pace that all these riders have is simply beyond comprehension and must be seen in person to be believed. Now if I could only get Ed Masters to return my disco sunglasses

They pointed out the jumps specifically. On courses like VDS, MSA or Champery the point out the speed, roughness, steepness etc.

In talking to them afterwards, they weren't worried about it...at all. Again, they were visually imposing at first blush, and like Westy said, the whole track was new to all of them except Neko, Dak and maybe a handful of other "local" guys. Hell, Danny indicated he wasn't inititially thrilled with the course after the track walk, then started riding it and ended up not only liking it, but winning the fucking race.

Anyway, Peat and me really bonded over the stone phallice and banquet beers

Likewise, this chick was pretty enamored with my shirt (and my handsome visage one must assume), so we traded shirts...

Shit got weird...mistakes were made.
