Wow, he's a commentator, not a reporter. Is anyone surprised by his political leanings? It's not exactly news to his advertisers or audience.

This seems a bizarre move... maybe a publicity stunt?

Pardon my ignorance...

Why does donating to a candidate impact one's professional life (broadcaster, faux news anchor, etc.)? I read some articles and he didn't do anything that would "cause a conflict of interest" like donating to O'Donnell or something...so....um....right....(or am I missing something?)

Or not.

New York City - MSNBC "Countdown" host Keith Olbermann will be back on air Tuesday night following his indefinite suspension for donating to Democratic political campaigns ahead of the US midterm elections.

In a statement Sunday night, MSNBC president Phil Griffin said: "After several days of deliberation and discussion, I have determined that suspending Keith through and including Monday night's program is an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy.

"We look forward to having him back on the air Tuesday night."

MSNBC initially tapped Chris Hayes to fill in as host of the show but withdrew the offer after it emerged that he, too, made a series of donations to Democratic campaigns in recent years, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Yeah, it was his careful deliberation as opposed to the 300,000 people who petitioned, or the fact that other members of the NBC networks did the exact same thing, or the fact that Olbermann has the highest ratings on all of MSNBC or...
I got a message about the petition and saw how many had signed before I got it. I understand where MSNBC was coming from, but being the top host and not talking, mentioning, or publicly endorsing people on his show is what should matter. If he chooses to donate in his private life, then I say he should be allowed to do so.

Considering "other" organizations who are much more vocal in who they support, it seems silly.
